It's certainly in the Owner's Manual. My 2010 tells me 55 mph in 4 hi. THE vey best thing you can do ( and rare) is to read through that manual! Seems like Owner's Manuals are like Sequential Shifters, Hazard Flashers and Park Lamps, "there" but seldom used!:D

The previous answer is incorrect. You cannot SHIFT into 4x4 over 55-60 mph, but there certainly is no speed limit in 4x4. My supercharged truck routinely hit 120 mph in 4x4 before I converted it to AWD. Mechanically, the transfer case doesn’t care what speed you are going, as long as it is more or less in a straight line.

never shift into 4 hi above 55 mph and never on dry pavement unless in a straight line. It’s not an AWD system and using 4wd in conditions that do not allow the front wheels to slip when turning will cause binding and possible axle and differential failure.

2 different things, shifting into 4x..... I believe the driver visor has that info. And, how fast you can actually drive in 4x. Not sure about the 2nd part but the computer seemed to limit me to about 95 mph..... (offroad flat lake bed where it was safe) then and add about 11% for my 37" tires so about 105 mph. BTW, I highly discourage this type of truck abuse.:p

The question was "how fast can you DRIVE in 4 wheel drive" NOTHING about SHIFTING into 4 Wheel Drive.

The ANSWER was "no speed limit in 4x4" -_- Literally says that in the quoted post.

That is the question I answered my good sir.
The owners manual only mentions that the truck will not let you shift into 4x4 over 55mph.
The manual states nothing about how fast you can drive in 4x4.
You can drive in 4x4 up to the governed speed limit (110 mph in a NA truck, 125 mph in a TRD flashed supercharged truck or 130mph+ in a truck with speed limiter removed).
From a technical standpoint, there is not much difference in 2WD vs 4x4.
The front axles always rotate in 2WD, the transfer case internals always rotate in 2WD and pass the power through to the rear driveshaft.
The only thing that changes in 4x4 is your front driveshaft and diff get connected to that equation, and there is absolutely nothing stopping them from rotating over the 55mph speed.
If you can provide a picture of the page in the owners manual that says anything about the max speed you can drive in 4x4 I will apologize and admit I was wrong all these years. ;)

You can actually shift into 4x4 while moving? He never knew that I always put it in park or neutral before going into 4wheel. Cool.

4Hi....yes. Do not shift into 4Lo while moving unless you like bad sounding grinding noises....

Yup. Been that way a LONG time. My 1997 T100 four wheel drive allows on-the-fly-4-by (hi) up to 55 mph.

I'm sure going high speeds will increase tranny temps quite a bit. Especially the 2019-2020 tundras without the external cooler.

Can confirm this. My SC Tundra has gone same speed in 4 hi. Just refuse to say where that was, and if questioned, I will deny it. :spy:

No need for that Viktor, I was wrong, you Sir, have my apology. I miss-read the wordage in my Manual. Not to worry though, I've been Married for 46 years, so I'm used to being wrong most of the time!:D

Thank you guys so in short no speed limit on 4x4 hi correct. I read that in the manual you have to be below 65 or so don’t recall exactly but once engaged no speed limit.
