So I looked on YouTube to find some advice on how to change out my 14 TRD SR5 crewmax headlight bulbs to LED from stock halogen. Looks pretty dag-gum intensive for bulb swap.
Do I really need to remove my grill and lower front 1/4 panels?
Have any of you done this and IS IT WORTH IT?
For the cost of the bulbs it’s worth it, just a lotta work and taking things apart!

Everything I've read says do NOT put LEDs in a housing designed for halogen. The reflected scattered light will be blinding to oncoming vehicles and useless to the driver. Best bet is to retrofit projectors or buy the 2018+ Toyota LEDs and a harness to make them work.

That hasn’t been my experience with the Beamtechs I installed. Big plus is they are plug ‘n play. Even if they burned out tomorrow I could buy 8-15 more sets for the price of 1 pair of the newer OEM headlights or the zooty brand name lights.
The LED headlight bulbs if they are in the proper orientation, have a distinct cutoff. If it’s too high just lower it with the in-dash motor dial. I haven’t been flashed yet by other drivers.
Paying about $200++++ for headlights is just plain nuts IMO. I paid $40 from Amazon. Mo money for gas!

OP, pulling the grill and small panel is no big deal. Couple of plastic push “pins” that come out really easy and 4 10mm “bolts”. (More like screws, I used my cordless drill)
It’s a little pucker when you pull the tabs that are on the bottom 2 sides but that’s only because it sounds like a plastic SNAP.
Just look at headlight revolution vids and do it to it. They show the correct way to pull everything and it takes *maybe* 20 minutes.

I installed Hikari Ultra Led and the beam pattern seems fine with a sharp cut-off line. I don't get flashed by other drivers.

I have 2010 and when I installed Philips Crystal Vision bulbs years ago (These white halogen bulbs seem to last around 2 years for my use), I didn't have to take the headlights off. With LED bulbs with protruding back, I found it necessary to take the headlights off. It was a lot easier than I thought. I would think 3rd gen Tundras are similar.

(From what I read, LED bulbs used to be terrible. Nowadays, they are designed so that they mimic the stock bulbs by putting the LEDs at the same location as the filament's location.)
