Can a CEL be caused by the Hewitt-Tech SAIS bypass?

i just installed the Hewitt-Tech SAIS bypass on my 2007 Tundra 5.7. I Installed this as prevention, my SAIS still works just fine, I just want to get ahead of the problem. I had not had a CEL ever appear on this truck.

Yesterday, everything was fine, no CEL- but all of my starts were warm starts after I installed the bypass yesterday.

When I cold started the car this morning, a CEL appeared, but it was P0335, P0340, P0345, P0365, and P0390. These are all codes related to the camshaft and crankshaft position sensors. Hard for me to believe how it could be related to the bypass. When I removed the bypass, and cleared the codes, the CEL never came back.

For the record, I have yet to install the starter relay wire, nor the exhaust block plates.

Has anyone had a similar thing happen?

Well the problem did not repeat itself on my cold start this morning. Hope yesterday was a fluke.

Man, I needed to do some research as I didn't have a clue what you're talking about! I can't imagine the bypass would cause a a mechanical problem but I would never put it past any additional electronic harness and bypass of a system to throw things out of whack. If it happens again, I'd just remove the whole thing until you need it, if ever. That is quite a bit of codes for an all of a sudden moment.

Thankfully it wasn’t an actual mechanical problem, just that the car thought it had a bad camshaft and crankshaft position sensor.

Once I cleared it, it never came back. And thankfully on today’s cold start, the bypass did it’s thing (I didn’t hear the SAIS pumps humming)AND no check engine light. I’m hoping that’s how it stays!

Hope not, I just received my bypass for my 2008 as a prevention. I'm a little worried there is a reason the gen II came out, but I'm pretty sure there has been lots of good experiences with GEN I

It’s been good, the CEL still never came back after that first time.

Perhaps it happened after removing and testing the starter relay, looking for the correct terminal for the starter relay wire. I had turned the ignition to the on position while the starter relay was partially in the fuse box a few times.
