I guess it's because of Rack and Pinion Steering cant be controlled by software? I was mildly disappointed when I got my new 2020 Tundra 4X4, after driving a Rav 4 as a courtesy car for a week. I previously owned a 2011 TRD Crewmax so I really didn't need one, just was afraid it would be the last year for a real Tundra. (Possible V6, Hybrid or 10 speed transmission. (Shifts too much for me, NOW) For those of you in older Tundras, You're also going to lose storage areas for no obvious reason. (Behind the rear seats is no linger possible)

Toyota didn't add steering assist since it would give the Tundra poor gas mileage.

My grandma has no trouble turning the wheel so I think it's probably fine.

It's self steering. (Lane Tracing) Drives itself. Get it?

No, don't really get the point of those self driving sysyems.. I had the displeasure of that feature when I had the Corolla loaner. In the 50 or so miles I drove it, there were already multiple situations where it was very annoying, sometimes even dangerous. Sometimes you have to drift out of your lane for various reasons, like the semi truck that can't keep his trailer I'm his lane, or the giant pot hole you want to avoid.

Glad my Tundra doesn't have it.

I have a 2017 Rav with it. We turned it off since it seems to trigger off the painted lines and in my part of Missouri the guys that paint the line appear to have been inebriated when painting them and the lines aren't always where they need to be. I think the Tundra doesn't have it because it has a hydraulic power rack and not an electric one. The lines on the backup camera are dynamic by front wheel position too whereas the Tundra's is not.
