Truck looks great, congrats. I drove 5.4's for years through many different trucks, I now have the 6.2 in my work truck. Going from the 5.4 ford to the 5.7 toyota is night and day. I'm sure it will give you many good years of service

Is it? What do you notice the most? I love my ford, but I'm excited about this truck.

The drivetrain was most noticeable to me. Going from 248hp to 380hp is no small jump. I'm not sure your experiences but I was always working on my 5.4 or had it in for some sort of repair. They were dependable for the most part but had enough problems that it was always in the back of my mind, especially when traveling between towns. These were always work trucks so I got them significantly cheaper than a Tundra so repairs/cost probably evened out, nothing too huge but the piece of mind was not there. My last 5.4 was an E250, I thought buying a van would be the coolest thing ever...it is not lol. The engine is under the dash and almost impossible to do anything on. I had a lot of coilpack/firing issues with that thing and I invented a few new curse words trying to get in there. Not a fault of the engine just the nature of the van beast. Pretty funny looking back. I've sat in Fords and Toyota almost every day of my adult life. What the Toyota lacks in frills it makes up for in sheer stubborn reliability. They'll last longer than you want them too. I have an 03 Sequoia I'm waiting to give me any sort of issue so I can go buy a new one but it continues to run like the day it drove off the lot, damn thing. I think you'll find this to be the case with your truck.

That statement gets right to the point and so true. I hope you don't mind me using or stealing it when talking with my knuckle head buddies?

This is exactly what I was hoping for. My 5.4 has been super solid, but I have had it since 20k miles, full synthetic oil and motorcraft filters since day one, so no cam phaser issues for me. BUT. Summer before last it needed AC repair, last summer a transmission. Finally it was more than I cared to maintain, paid off or not. And like you said, my peace of mind with it was gone since I usually drive long distances. The tundra is a bit lighter on frills but my truck works for a living, so I'm hoping for exactly what you just said. Thank you.
