Headlight Low Beam out 2007 Tundra

I need help y'all. The low beam is out on my driver's side headlight. Bought replacement bulbs and they did not work. (H11). Checked the fuses, they looked good, but changes it anyway - no go. I hate having one headlight. What am I missing??

 

Process of elimination.

I would first advise to verify that the old bulb really does not work. Best way would be to remove it and hook it up directly to battery. Same with the new bulb.

Or use the working side to verify the status of the old and new bulb.

If they prove out to be what you expect, then the wiring is at fault.

Do following tests to determine which wire is at fault:
- Power wire to ground wire for 12v
- Power wire to chassis ground for 12v
- Ground wire to chassis ground for continuity

Since the wires go into a bundle, tracing them back could be a pain.

Look at the plug. Does it look black,burnt,melted.These bulbs get hot.

 

There's been a few times I swore the fuse looked good and was still intact. After checking everything else, I went back to swapping the fuse and voila. Electricals back on.

 

I know the tail light on my 07, the prongs in the socket seemed to have gotten weak not making contact with bulb as needed. Had to tweak the prongs some so they would make contact with the bulb conductors as needed.

 

I have seen this before. A fuse blown from a short will be all black inside with most of the guts gone. But some times they will just separate with a real fine crack that you can't see very well. Glad that's all it was.

 

We had the same exact problem with a tail light on our 2010 4 runner.Had to do the same thing. I read where some one had this problem and the dealer told them they needed a whole new tail light assembly.
