Front Bilstein 6112 shocks & Bilstein springs. Rear Bilstein 5160 remote Reservoir shocks, Wheeler’s Off-road add-a-leafs. LED lighting. Pioneer Avic 7200NEX Nav Head unit. Borla cat back exhaust.
TV manufacturers have been doing that for decades. They sold specific model numbers to TV dealers so they can claim to beat competitor's pricing. then try to find that same model at a discounter. The TV is the same, but has a different model #.

Walmart gets some Walmart only tires. Generally the same construction as other models but they may have their own tread pattern & model name.

    Loss leader.

I lose money on shingles, if that's all I sell a roofer, in order to make margin, I need to sell the decking, nails, underlayments, roof jacks, etc, or the whole job.

Some lumber yards will sell their mouldings for next to nothing, to get you in the door but make up the margin on nails, paint, putty, caulkings etc.
