I have noticed my 2014 CM with the 5.7 idles high at startup. 1400rpm when it's almost 70 degrees outside seems kind of high. It will hold that for a minute or two. I understand when the engine is cold it will idle higher but what is everyone's truck idle at on startup? I want to say once the engine is warm it idles at 6-700rpm.

Similar to a choke like the old days, fuel injected cars and trucks do something similar when started. You’re just going to notice it more on a bigger engine like the 5.7 L.

I was very surprised to see the high idle (around 1300rpm I think...) when I first turned on my 2019 truck....but mine STAYS high a very long time (if it's not been driven
for a few hours, but regardless of outside temperature),. Although I sit there a few minutes before driving (hoping it will decrease), it never does (even after
5 minutes or more)..so. I just drive..but its wierd to hear that big drop in RPM's when putting it in drive....doesn't bother me if that's considered normal.

Mine does it. If someone is standing near the exhaust i have learned to wait for them to move a few more feet before i start just not to spook them.

Mine seems high after it settles down. I notice at a stop light that I need to keep a steady pressure on the pedal to keep it from creeping forward. I say mine is around 900-950. Is that normal.

Yes, all of that is normal.
I have sciatic nerve pain through my right ankle which makes it painful to press and hold the brake pedal for long periods of time. I have learned to put it in neutral if I’m at a long stoplight.

Mine is more like 2K for the first few seconds, then settles down to about 1200 until the engine is warm.
