    Hi
I find shifting from D into S needs quite a bit of weight behind the lever to push it over.

Do others find this an issue?

It there some adjustment I can try changing?

    How much is "weight?"

Just needs a good push to get the shifter over to the left. Seems to be much easier going from S to D

The S is Sequential, not Sport. But there is a bit of weight, like the amount to shift to D from P.

Probably from preventing you from accidently throwing it into that mode, without a knowingly good effort

S is for sequential mode. You can use it to shift your truck like a manual but its most often used to take advantage of engine braking when towing heavy loads. If you have a 6-speed transmission you can shift between all 6 gears by notching up or down, 5-speed 5 gears, etc etc.

If you wanna play a bit you can try it out, your engine will do shifts even if you're pressing on the gas pedal. I've read somewhere if you try to shift too low at a high powerband the trucks computer will beep and keep you from blowing your engine or trans driving like in the case you were passing on the highway shifting too low. I'll try to find the material and link it here, should be good explanation in the in your owners manual though.

The reason its stiff I believe is so someone doesn't accidentally bump it into Sequential mode by accident. I've picked up a drink before and bumped it and it just stayed in drive. It'll feel stiff to shift it over from drive but don't worry, it's natural.

Toyota probably wants you to be aware of the fun you're about to get into if you're not towing;):mudding:

Yes I usually drive in S and use the full array of gears
I’m sure I am like many that drive in S regularly
I find the gear selector clunky compared to my previous tundra and was hoping for an easy fix

Gotcha, are you saying clunky from D to S, or clunky selecting gears?

    My 5.7L has always had a clunky/stiff shift from D to S.

I’m wondering if it’s a difference in transmission models from one year to the next?
