True, true. And we have a few folks coming from AZ so I doubt they'll notice either.

I don't have anything planned for it, but could always grab a few people who are capable and willing to do some exploring. Maybe follow @Spvrtan 's group but 15-30 mins behind to avoid traffic jams.
Meet up at Truck Haven around noon for lunch right?

Ooooooh! Yeah this could be fun!

Gnarly. I'd definitely like to get out there and check it out.

Right on making it that far! It's a cool trail for sure.

Any word on Colton making it? I'll set up a group for you if we get to that point. Knowing you don't mind leading helps a lot. Stay tuned (likely by PM).

    @osidepunker @Spvrtan @eccracer104

Guys, FWIW, Cross-Over Trail was freaking miserable. If you know of another way to get from TruckHaven Training Grounds to shell reef expressway, I'm all ears.

Colton will be there, and Patrick should be there as well. Spent all damn weekend swapping out Patrick's bent rear axle for a straight one. Nearly complete. The actual "swap" isn't hard, but the damn brakes are a PITA.

If this happens, I’ll be ready to move over to Mike’s group. Hulk likes following Tacos around, and I like learning from Mike. Plus... it’s always fun hanging with Colton, if such opportunity presents.
Can you give us more info, what made it miserable?

^^ I love that we're "excited" for miserable.

Is it rough and we can try to blast through this shit?
    Boulders we can crawl?
Fucking ruts and little rocks and shit miserable, because that's miserable.
    Washboard ain't shit over 40.

@Sunnier you can always cruise with us
I'm sure we can find something to mess around on and practice some stuff, as well as blast around. I like a nice mix of fast, slow, crawl :burnrubber::turtleride:

I'm sure he just means its miserable suspension wise. Even with full LT and 37s that trail is slow going

    Ahhhh... gotcha.

No idea what trail that is. Only time I've been out to the playground was ~5 years ago in my 2wd and I don't remember shit.

Well dang. At least there's other ways to get there.

Different. These seemed bigger. Maybe I wasn't hitting them fast enough?? Either way, I have to think lowest common denominator with my group. Pretty sure we'll have two stock trucks.

I'd love to see you guys run through there. I can imagine it would be a non-event in LT.

If it’s the same way we drove across last year, I totally applaud you, Sam, for knowing it’s not ideal for beginners.

It was basically swell after swell after swell as far as I could see in all directions. Lots of speed would probably be fun, but probably speed enough to catch air would cause a collision with the next whoop, in some cases, coming down from the former.

Last year, once I fell behind the vehicle I trailed and couldn’t follow their exact path, it got really stressful. Essentially, there were so many trails visible in every direction, I’d reach a junction that had, say, 3 options to proceed. The problem is, no matter how I play at abandon, I never stop thinking about possible danger— and there’s no visibility over the hood of a 3rd gen going up over a rise; I always considered the possibility that two routes replaced an original that could no longer be taken because it now went over the side to a drop-off that would leave me nose-down in a collision an unknown distance below. There were washes and flood channels throughout.

I wound up the leader of the slow group at the back and, although I “offered” several times to hand these reins to someone else behind me, I got no takers. I finally began stopping at every such intersection, getting out and scouting forward on foot, then choosing which to take. It was the only part of the trip at which stress outweighed fun.

A Subaru made it through in the lead group (so visibility over the hood, not clearance, was the bigger factor), and I have no doubt that Kris led at the pace he did because his big tires gave him visibility. Anyone that could follow the path of the vehicle in front of them could trust there was no drop-off ahead. And I don’t see any danger to shocks. But most of us at the back group were stock, so that 3rd gen visibility thing was an issue. My experience, anyway.

Well I’m not the same driver and not the same truck mostly and it still wasn’t any fun at all. Then shell reef expressway hits and you’re doing 50 after and hour of doing 5mph. BOOM! so fun

Too long ago to remember, and I was focused on other things. That said, I’ve been impressed by the older Outbacks (the newer ones are way bigger).

Edit: I’m assuming you’re kidding, but :notsure:.

There's definitely easier ways to get across from Truckhaven than the crossover trail. I'll have to look at my map again though.

A little of this and a little of that. Its pretty run of the mill.
On big whoops, all the visibility in the world isn’t gonna help you. On the really big whoops, even LT isn’t gonna help you. Sometimes you just have to go slow cuz you’re not driving a Raptor. NBD.
