2016 seats in my base suck

Hi, new member here. I just picked up a used 2016 2dr base. My 2004 SR5 just rolled 242,000 miles with out ever stranding me. GREAT TRUCK but things are failing and coming loose so it was time to move on.
Anyway l think i am going to like the 2016 but after driving it 900 miles l think the seats need replaced with limited or 1794 seats. Can anyone tell me if they are any better than the base seat? I am thinking maybe i could recover in leather and put heat and extra butt padding in or just find seats out of a wrecked limited or 1794.

 

Limited seats are the worst in terms of comfort unless they're broken in real nice... Platinum/1794 seats are the best out there but I'm not sure where you could find those. Even if you did I'm sure you're looking at several thousand dollars.

 

Comfort is subjective. Different body shapes and weight as well as driving position factor in.

My limited seats are extremely comfortable. Did a 5500 mile 2 week trip with the longest drive at 22 hrs and never felt uncomfortable.

Sometimes squishy isn't so good.

 

Very true. I find my cloth seats to be very comfortable for me.

 

Ditto. Very happy with my seats as well. I like the firmness of these seats. Good posture = less pain and fatigue.

 

On that note, I recently started to take my wallet out of my pocket. It makes it so much better!

 

True, it is subjective like looks and color. I personally feel like limited seats are very stiff and that you're sitting on them, not in them. Stiff with good support support is good news for your back.

Just IMO cloth, and platinum/1794 are the most comfortable for me.

 

I added the leather Clazzio seat covers. Added heated seats as well. The covers come with a half inch of memory foam an it increases the comfort.

 

Where did you buy the Clazzio covers? I am confused , you added new seats or you inserted the heat elements under the Clazzio's on your existing 3rd gen seats?

 

I can afford that. The problem is finding a wrecked 1794, there would be a lot of intense searching on the puter to find that, and then my luck they would be the wrong color like the real popular tan...

 

Is it a contractor grade seat with the vinyl?

I've noticed over the years that any leather seat from a Jap import is going to hold up. They tend to break your ass in rather than vice versa. Most comfortable I had was a C-5 vett but after a few years they start breaking down.

 

I did a quick search a while back and yes, it was not a friendly search.

If you're able to find a pair of fronts, you also might as well go the extra mile and try to source other parts to make the seat ventilation work too.

 

Bought directly from Clazzio as I got two tone covers, they sell a heat package that has the element that adhesive to the underside of the seat covers. Then you wore the switches which was not hard just time consuming. The seat covers have the foam standard.

 

Wrapped the steering wheel to match.

I did heated and leather and agonized over where to place the switch....

 

Haha thank you. They said it was plug n play but I had to cut out the hole more. Great thing is the panel comes out easy. Looks good you did a great job. Not much room to put it elswhere.

 

I loved my SR5 seats in cloth, and I like them even better with leather Katzkin.

Now with temps dropping, the heaters are a very welcome upgrade. I like the firmness.

Do the higher trims have softer seats?

Damn 22 hours! And I was ready to fall out of the seat after 18 hours.

 

I’ve had a 15 sr5 and now my 18 platinum. I actually enjoyed the seat in the sr5. The only difference I see on the platinum side is obviously the leather which is soft but there’s just a lot more adjustability which possibly makes it more comfortable, but don’t think it’s too much softer. Just my opinion.

 

Recover your current seats with katskinz. You know they will be comfy and you can add heat if wanted. Plus no retro fitting. My platinum seats leave something to be desired.. especially the driver rear. Feels like someone is punching you constantly in the lumbar

 

You won’t regret it. The seats are bulletproof now, more comfy, and a breeze to clean. Along with rubber floor mats they will let you not worry about the interior ever again!

 

My opinion: The Limited seats are okay after a longer drive; 1794 and Platinum seats are better, yet I didn’t find them much better after longer drives (5-6 hrs). And I don’t think they are as comfortable as Lexus GX or LX seats, though some folks think they are. The leather on the Lexus SUV’s is softer. The Tundra Platinum and 1794 leather is more firm.

Nice seats. Most Tundras are cloth. I looked around and the leather seats sold me on mine. SR5 grade.

 

These are all fabric 3 different colors, are they the same shape as your SR5's ?

 

I'm sorry, I was confused. I'll compare when I get back home but I have buckets. I like leather primarily from the durability and cleanliness standpoint. I drop a taco or spill a beer on the seat, I can clean it up with out it soaking in.

 

These seats are buckets, sorry for the bad picture. I did order the Clazzio's in black. I agree they should really help with cleanup and a little more padding.

 

Cool beans. I just can't stand cloth. Company car-fleet rental type- has cloth. I eat all the time driving and it shows

 

My 2019 SR5 seats just like 2016tundy's pics. I can tolerate some lack of support - but can't tolerate irritation of that rear seam on the seat - right under the cheeks. Mine's too deep and loose. Fabric bunches and then moves in different directions every turn and bump. Bother anyone else? Anyone ever have luck getting dealer to fix as a defect in workmanship?
