After changing wheels/tires, my speedometer is off about 2mph at 60. Do you guys consider this acceptable or should I re calibrate the speedometer?

Mine's been off about that much since I got it and I just live with it. If it were off 5-10mph then I'd question it, but not 2.

I'm at 74-75 while speedo is showing 70. It's not a big deal and is not worth a few hundred to reprogram. If anything, truck will show to have less miles on it in the long run. ;)

A lot us don't have digital readouts to notice 2mph. 5mph may be more of a concern since we all here drive about 8 MPH over the speedlimit. 9 you're fine, 10 you're mine is an old adage I remember.

This. When I changed my tires I used my GPS to get real speed. At 65 on the speedometer, I'm going 68. I go thru radar 3 or four times a week set at 65 in a 60 Mph zone. No problem.

oddly enough I felt like I was driving really slow when I got my truck new... checked with GPS and speedo was showing 2-3MpH faster on highway. Now with 275/60R20 my speedometer is finally correct

A few times when I’ve passed a roadside radar detector, the faster I’m going the more off it is. I’m on stock tires and it tends to read 1 to 2 mph fast. GPS confirmed. So I figure it should be dead nuts when I bump up to 33’s.

What I do notice is when I go from my everyday driver company car and get in the Tundra, ya better watch it. They like to sit on the highway where you get on the road from the farm road. Shit I freaking almost got nailed pulling out and getting up to speed before noticing. Saw the trooper and looked down and man I was damn close to 75 on the 65mph road. Let off hit cruise and 70 and waived in a friendly manner when I went by. I sit on my seatbelt too. Need to disconnect that alarm so I can grab it and buckle up quick.

Yeah, a couple of years ago I accelerated to about15 over to merge. A state Trooper settled in behind me like he was clocking. I dropped back to 7-8 over and all was well

I do know in NC if you pass one that's going about 6 over and you have out of state tags, VA in my case, he will pull you.

Actually, when @Jim LE 1301 was on highway patrol in NY, you would get pulled for having VA tags. Funny story that I'll let Jim tell if he wants to.

I am traveling 2 or 3 mph slower than indicated with the 285/60/18 tires, my speedo is spot on with the 255/70-18 tires.

Yeah, I hate it when you got to sit behind them fuggers for 20 miles till they get to the next donut stop and finally get off. Here it's pretty much that they can pull you over going say 8MPH over. A lot of times they are trolling for other money makers. But, they're not going to give you a ticket because they know it's going to be thrown out. A warning is about it. But they see you with a 12 pack in the front seat and a doob in the ashtray, and some illegal Mexi chiXX from the border under a tarp in the back seat of the CM well things might be a little different:eek2:

He got in behind you ran a quick search of your plate when he pulled in behind and realized bigger fish to fry. Outstanding parking ticket it may have been different

Heck, my speedo is off by about 11.5% and I'm not gonna bother changing it. So, at 60 on the speedo I'm doing roughly 68 gps. There's so much other crap out there for the police to worry about, ain't got time for my piddly ass. Just keep it 'tween the mustard and the mayo and it's all good

My speedo is about 10mph under at 70mph or above. My Bullydog reads my actual speed, so I use it as my speedo.

Okay, gotta know what's wrong with having VA tags while driving through other states. Is it because of our STUPID state slogan "Virginia is for lovers"? Because that's understandable. Otherwise, it's just state profiling, and I'm offended.:D

In all seriousness. There is a margin of error with radar speed guns as well if that is your concern.

Also, all tires of the same size might be different heights when mounted, people run different pressure which will all throw off the results
