Does anyone know the coolant temperature rating from the factory(by this i mean is it good down to 0, -20, -40, etc...)? Bought a new truck and didnt think about asking. I know i can check it with a cheap gauge widely available, but ive left for work, I have no phone service but do have internet at work, and will be gone a more than a month. It shouldnt be getting cold enough to worry about it while im gone, but was wondering if anyone knew. I searched but found nothing about it.

Id also noticed the truck didnt have a block heater, which i thought was standard, at least used to be here in Alaska. Id searched for that as well and found mostly the Canadian toyotas getting them as an option. Guess ill call the service center when i get back to town.

    Thanks

I lived in Anchorage for 10 months in 2012, record cold winter. Even though it seemed like everyone used a block heater, I never put one on my 09 Taco. Has to get get pretty damn cold to make gasoline jell up but it's nice to keep the oil warm for those cold starts. I used Lucas Upper Cylinder Treatment to quiet things down at -20. For what it's worth I remember dealers charging only a $100 or so to install block heaters. A must have for diesels up there of course.
