Anyone else read the updated Titan specs?
    https://www.motor1.com/news/372887/2020-nissan-titan-pickup-reveal/amp/

Mild refresh and updated 5.6 pushing 400hp and 413 lb ft mated to a new 9 speed. Looks better than the last gen and they hit the magic 400 mark, I’m sure reliability will continue to be a dice roll.

that said I’m still loving my 19 Platinum every day (and missing my 2015 Taco less) but it’s a little disappointing that Toyota couldn’t update the 5.7 to push closer to 400 and add the 8 speed in the LC for the 18 refresh.

Friend has a 2011 Nissan xterra and she likes it a lot.
She had a 2006 but due to ny salt it lived a hard life.

Nissan isn't for me but if Toyota wasn't around I would give it a harder look.

Every "speed" you add to a hydraulic transmission increases the opportunity for failure.

    KISS!

    Or is it SMOOCHES?

I forget. Dont listen to me.

I have had Datsun/Nissan for decades, ('72 240z, 78 280z, 86 300zx, 94 300z), until my 2006 350Z. It had a motor that burned oil. Nissan's fix, was replacing the engine with the same engine. At 36k on the second engine which went in at 18k the issue returned. Nissan gave that new motor a 12k warranty and as it was at 18k said sorry, we'll give you lifetime oil changes.

    I'll never buy another Nissan.

The vice president at the dealer I work for gets to drive a company vehicle and it's always Nissan he has had to Titans now when I first met him he had a Red Rock warrior Tundra but sold it when he got the company vehicle......so when I get to talk to him now he sais he would still take his old Tundra over the Titan

You really can't beat for as old the Tundra styling is, how well built it feels, especially when comparing to a used Ram/Ford/GM. From what I've heard from my buddy who's dad has been an engineer at Nissan for 30 years, they always have weak rear ends and powertrain issues.

I suppose i'll have to search the forums a bit more to get a cost effective way to get the tundra another 20/30 HP/TQ to get it on par on paper with the upcoming 2020 competition.

I am a Service Manager at a Nissan dealership (4.5 years). I worked for Toyota for 13 before this. The Titan is a great truck, 1 of 2 vehicles we have the least amount of issues with. I know they are better than Chevy and Ford, they have a good info-tainment system, the Midnight edition is bass A$$ looking. They are very quick off the line!!!!!!

With all that said, they still do not have the reliability of a Tundra!!! Tundras just plain work and just plain GO!!!! Guess what I drive???? 2017 Tundra TRD OFF Road. I bought it from my Nissan dealership, bought it over a Titan. Now if they gave me the deal I got on a Midnight edition I would be hard pressed to not get it.

I would deff get a Titan well before a Chevy, Dodge, Ford, etc....

If you have any questions about the Titan PM me.

You just can't polish a turd. That thing is still fugly as hell. No manufacturer is making a good looking truck anymore. I don't know what designers are smoking these days.

I have no problem with Nissan in general. I bought a 2001 Nissan Xterra for my daughter to drive about 5 years ago. Yeah, it had a few known issues that I had to fix, but after that - it has been rock solid. 160K on the clock and still going just fine. It wheels like a beast, too.

I quite like the look of it. Nice styling. However, Nissan gearboxs are junk.

9 speed tranny? Dear Gawd almighty.............wwwwwwwhhhhhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy??? O.K. Rhetorical question.

In my Tundra 5.7 the 6th gear is USELESS. The 5th gear is HALF USELESS.

I LIKE my Tundra. I LOVED my Titan. Nissan makes a great truck wish I would have kept it but my work situation at the time didn't allow me. I would have been back into one but they sold it before i got to the dealer and I scooped up the Tundra on a "try something new" whim.

I would have thought using the 8 speed from the Land Cruiser would have picked up a MPG or 2 on the HWY, increased towing by maybe 500lbs and improved acceleration by a few tenths. I'm really curious as to why the 8 speed wasn't used in the tundra if it's mated to the LC and i think the lexus 570.

Titan was my second choice because of the warranty mainly. You can get a great deal on one as well. Unlike the Tundra. Tundras just don’t get much off msrp like the other brands imo. 2020 titan looks nice. Better than a Gm or Ford

I agree the Titan is a heck of a lot better looking then the current Chevy.
I am liking the tech improvements, 9" screen is nice. They have had surround view camera's since 2017, which is something I still wish Toyota offered on the Tundra. Its another one of those tech features that has been around on the land cruiser for many years but not ever made its way down to the Tundra.
I am sure the Tundra is a higher quality truck, but comparing warranty and transaction prices, the Titan presents a compelling choice in the market place.
I actually own 12 of them in my business fleet, and I have had very little trouble with any of them, all are the 2018 and 2019 models, some have as many as 90,000 miles on them now. Overall been really happy with them.
Now that they are dropping the 8ft bed regular cab, which dropping the regular cab is no big deal but dropping the 8ft bed is a problem for my future needs.

Right now I am leaning toward making all our 8ft bed trucks into ext cab 8ft bed trucks the next time I replace any of them. Which leave me with only 2 choices left in the 1/2 ton market available with an ext cab and 8ft bed, the Tundra and the F150.
It will be interesting to see if Toyota drops the 8ft bed all together on the next generation. GM, RAM, and Nissan have abandoned the ext cab 8ft bed in light duty trucks. Toyota dropped the regular cab all together, now so has Nissan, RAM is only making the regular cab in its older platform not the new body. So it would seem regular cabs and 8ft beds are nearing extinction.

I believe it is still a second gen, all they changed was the grill and updated some tech. Drop a couple configurations. Like no more regular cabs, and no more XD diesels.
This was basically a mild mid cycle refresh.

Nissan makes a good truck. I owned a 2006 Xterra off road 6 speed manual for 11 years. I was an awesome SUV. Ran like a champ and was amazing in the snow. Sold it too a buddy of mine, still runs great and he beat the shit out of it. He's hard on his cars, X needs love bad but it's his now. My folks still have 2005 Nissan Frontier, funny Nissan still rolling with the same design, you would think Nissan would get with the times. Back in the day I had a 1994 Nissan hardbody 4x4, 5 speed manual that truck kicked ass and ran like a champ. Overall I have been happy with Nissan's, good trucks that don't break the bank. But I do love my Tundra, so fun to drive and a looks great too.

I am with you! Had a 99 Maxima that still runs amazing that I gave to my daughter for her first vehicle. You can’t kill these older Nissans! Wish they made cars and trucks like they did back then. They were built to last. These days it seems the cars and trucks are made to be disposable.

Took a nose dive off the ugly cliff. That has got to be one of the worst front ends I've ever seen on a truck. It's like a Lincoln Navigator mated with a dump truck. Horrible.

I really like the look of that Pro-4X. Had one before and its an awesome truck. It was a low end torque monster and towed, offroaded, and cruised really smooth.

When we were looking at full sized trucks, we took out a Tundra and loved it. We walked over to Nissan as I wanted to give the Titan a fair chance. We sat in it, all looked at each other, shook our heads and said "we don't need to take it out". Didn't care for it, none of us did.

The Tundra just felt right and comfortable, coming from a Sienna. Same controls and layout. Plus it's a Toyota and my family knew I was biased.

I'll take the giant temp control knobs over push botton gizmos any day.

I think the Titan looks good and has great interior quality.
But, I will never own another Nissan.
Great warranty if you can get Nissan to admit and fix.
My 15 Quest, tranns (CVT) shot at 32k miles, yeah
Got a 17 Armada, trans wining and resonating sound from somewhere about drove me crazy.
Traded the Armada for my Tundra.
Don't get me wrong, I really liked the Armada, rode/drove great, comfortable, very nice.....BUT.
