I was at a stop light and had to gas on it to get out turning a sharp right. Felt like transmission slipped real bad. Felt like I ran over something. First time I have ever noticed any issue like this. Anyone else experienced this? Should I get it checked out? Got 46K on 2017.

Probably your traction control interfering if I had to guess. I always drive with mine completely off. I still don't like the idea of traction control in situations like that. Even the most modern systems will still screw up if you gun it. Overwhelms the computer.

You checked your rear-view to check for bodies in the cross-walk, right? :D

Check out my post earlier this month. I had almost the same thing happen to my truck. I would give it gas and the transmission would almost jump into gear from 1st to 2nd. Long story, but I ended up having issues while in 5th going into 6th gear while on the freeway. My suggestion would be to get to the dealership while it is happening. I know it seems impossible, but if they cannot replicate the issues, you will get nowhere. What happened on my end, it turned out the tranny was bad/broken/caput and was changed at 55,000. I wish you luck!

When I first got mine, at a light with a slight downhill sharp right hand turn, I noticed the tranny downshift a gear whenever I would roll through and accelerate. RPMs would go up and it was annoying. That’s the only time it ever happened. Always at the same spot, and never, ever, anyplace else. Then it either stopped or I don’t notice anymore. Will have to pay attention tomorrow. I thought perhaps it was something to do with how the engine/tranny controls were reading my acceleration Input.

I suspect that it's the shift logic. I've experienced it in several models of Toyota and in some Allison equipped medium duty straight trucks. I find it most annoying when coming into roundabouts and not having to need to come to a complete stop, then trying to enter the circle. The transmissions seem to do a quick 2-1-2 shift, and the best thing seems to try to do is hold the throttle steady and allow the transmission time to catch up.

Being this is your transmission, I’d say go get it checked out so it’s documented. It may turn out to be nothing or it may turn out it was a good thing you took it in, win-win in my opinion. And your still under your power train warranty.
