I just bought my 2017 SR5 and noticed that when I hit the unlock button on the remote it chimes once. When I hit the lock button I get no chimes at all. I would rather know my truck is locked versus unlocked. How do I change this. Please note that the infotainment system was replaced with a double din touch screen unit (cheap one) and I think that this is where I need to be to make the change... Am I correct or is there another way?

So my truck is a 2012 but I'll share my story.
For the past 2 years I've had my truck it would chime when I hit the lock button on the fob.
One day (a month or so ago) I hit the lock button and I heard nothing.. Figured it was a fluke and walked away.
Well it did it again the next day. I looked around, hit unlock and then lock and it chimed. I was getting an intermittent no chime when locking it with the fob.
Come to find out my passenger side front door lock actuator was going out intermittently. If one of the door lock actuators does not lock when you hit the button on the fob then the truck will not chime.

I would check your doors to make sure they are all locking. If they are all functioning I would bet the dealer can hook up to it via tech stream and program it to chime when you lock it with the FOB.

Mine chimes both ways so it’s gotta be in the settings. Also for a little while I had it set on driver door unlock only, double press for all doors. Finally changed it to single press all unlock as my family is often getting in same time.

It's a setting in Entune if you have the stock head unit and can also be done in Techstream. I THINK people with aftermarket head units might be able to change it if they have an iDataLink Maestro. I changed mine to unlock all pretty much right away after getting my truck.

OP, sounds like you've got an actuator problem like @Scuba mentioned. Also, you should have two beeps for unlock, one for lock...

    Figured.
My truck came second hand with an AM head unit and no Maestro. I'm too poor to buy the maestro kit. Maybe if I'm bored one day I'll head to the dealership to see if they can change it via Techstream. Thanks!

My aftermarket head unit has an icon called “Console” and within it “Car Settings”, ie; it retained the stock HU’s controls. I installed it, no special cables required but the new HU did have ports for all the stock harnesses.

In “Car Settings”, there’s a choice for “Sound for Lock/Unlock”. It’s set at “7” which doesn’t make any sense, I just know it beeps both ways. Someone with the stock Tundra HU may be able to tell you if there are separate settings for what you’re experiencing.

One thing, mine doesn’t beep if my kid doesn’t fully shut a door. So make sure even with no sound, all doors are fully locking.

May be dumb to point out but I've noticed with some aftermarket remote start systems the fobs don't work correctly in corresponding with the chimes or the headlight flashes when locking or unlocking. Just a thought

I read a thread on here where someone had an aftermarket alarm that screwed with the chimes and ended up being an ordeal to get fixed.

My truck has a constant high pitched tone that plays if I try to lock the truck and a door isnt fully closed. It will make noise until I hit unlock or close the offending door.2016 sr5

I have a Kenwood head unit that has no settings for my truck, but my Bullydog tuner allows me to change or disable many of the alarm features. ALL of my alarms are turned off, including when you lock and unlock. I think most modern vehicles have WAY too many alarms. Why does everything have to beep at you?!? The vast majority of alarms are pointless in my opinion. I can hear my truck lock and it also flashes, so an alarm to me is overkill. I prefer the sound of silence, but that's just me. :spy:

Check the actuators. Same thing happened on our Venza. They would unlock, get the beep but no beep on lock and 3 out of 4 doors were not locking.

I agree that most alarms are overkill. Especially the seat belt chime, but I do like the lock beep. I always double check my truck is locked before I go to bed and I can hear the beep without having to walk to a window to look for the lights. The unlock double beep on the other hand is annoying. I have to hear it twice if I want to open the passenger door. If I am unlocking the truck then I am close enough to hear the locks and don't need more shit beeping at me.

I like the lock beep too, I can think of a few situations when I can’t see my truck like in a crowded lot or if I’m walking away. The beep sound means I don’t have to look back.

Wow, Thanks everyone for replying. I am having a nice Kenwood system put in next week with Maestro so I hope I get those features back.
