You'll never figure it out...the batteries wear out and are not replaceable, so it could be one dead battery or 5, so either live with the TPMS light blinking (and effective no TPMS system) or buy new ones.
You need five total....4 for the aluminum wheels and 1 for the steel spare and 5 service kits. I have the same issue but I'm not replacing them till I need new tires.

One thing before you buy any, just try doing the TPMS reset procedure just in case they just lost communication, but I'm betting on a dead batterie(s).
