Oh I specifically wanted a 2020 over a 19 just for the smart key feature. Once you have had vehicles with it, it is hard not to miss it.
Just so happens it created some unknown TPMS changes.

I am getting the oem sensors moved over to my custom wheels and tires later today.
I just hope I can program them back into the truck without paying the dealer another 50 bucks.

Seems if they never got the new ones to overwrite your old ones, they should just work. Plus you paid 50 already for them to basically tell you the old ones were needed. Anyway, I think they should since they were already programmed to the ECM.

Well that was the problem in the sense why we could not figure out what was wrong.
I was able to overwrite the new sensors to the truck's ECM.

I can see them listed as the sensors in the trucks ECM with my TPMS tool, the dealer could also see them.
Problem is with the truck having the new push button start system (Smart Key) There is a different sensor for it that only that sensor will apparently have the correct prototcols and frequency codes that the ECM's receiver will be able to read. The truck knows which ones to be looking for, just they are not compatible.

You may be right about them reprogramming it for free. I am still in hopes that when I get the old sensors back in the new wheels, that my TPMS tool can write them back into the ECM. If not I will have to take it back to the dealer again, and who knows maybe they will do the right thing and simply reprogram them for me without another fee. It is a Toyota Dealer, so I kind of doubt it. They love to charge for every little thing.

They are greedy. My dealer wanted 154.00 to program my sensors. Thank God my friend was able to.

2020 TPMS with smart Key Update number 2:
OEM sensors are back on the truck now in the custom wheels. The self learn feature worked just fine. Put it in learn mode and it picked up the original TPMS sensors and stored them. No real need to even have a TPMS tool to program a 2018-2020 assuming you have the correct sensors in it. LOL

Learned another thing about the 2020 with smart key TPMS sensors. In order to read them I had tell my TPMS tool that I was scanning sensors for 2019 Land Cruiser. When trying to scan them for a 2019 Tundra got nothing. Which sense the 200 Land Cruiser has always had the smart key system, I thought I would give it a try and sure enough it read the 2020 smart key optioned sensors. I am not sure if I could have complete the programing since I was telling the TPMS tool that I was working on a 2019 Land Cruiser. I decided to give the self learning system a try and it worked so I called it good at that point.
