No power to Audio Head unit

2008 Black Tundra Crewmax 5.7L

Hey guys/gals!
I have a 2008 2nd gen. And the radio just shut off one day and never came back on! The stock head unit is for JBL sound system and the number on the radio head is A51828.
From the online reading I found they said the stock head units were known to shut off because of crappy parts. I bought a new/used head unit ($58) but still no luck...checked all fuses related to the radio/audio system...and checked power using a multimeter...when I plug the radio into the molex plugs I hear the cd changer make noise but I get no audio or anything on the screen.
I hope someone can help me diagnose further, or has been through this...
