Hey everybody! My tailpipe seems extra sooty, for 15k miles on a 2018. What do you think?20190912_180848.jpg 20190912_180848.jpg 20190912_180848.jpg

My biggest concern is my 2011 Tacoma has no such soot, with 105k...so perhaps internal oil burn, or something? I have had roughly 10 new cars over 20 years, not 1 has had exhaust look like that, not the v8s, not the 4 bangers.

Oh, and the soot, it is very much like chimney soot, not just surface grime. Not burning clean it seems.

Thanks everybody! This has worried me for a while, and I was to worried the answer was going to be "internal oil leak".

if you were burning oil youd know it. The 5.7 isnt known to burn oil (just leak it from cam towers). Soot is normal on these trucks.

Might as well call your insurance. Looks like your truck is totaled.

I do a lot of merging onto congested highways here, so she gets a lot of almost floored time with the skinny pedal. I only tow 3k max, and never load more than 1 thousand in the bed, so I like to think I am not to hard on her otherwise.

I drive mine sensible. It's the wife that is crazy in it. She drives it on a very rare occasion now.

I have to take the Sheridan road on ramp to Hwy 6, and you have about 30 feet to get to 75 mph there. Unless some bonehead stops at the end of the on ramp...

Those are fun. And people never seem to want to let a truck in. That's for sure.

There was a point where I had to take my truck back from my wife.
I was letting her drive it because she had a shorter commute than mine. I got in it for the first time in a week and a half and it looked like a bomb exploded inside of a trash bag.

She is bad at taking care of the inside of a car.
She hasn’t been the primary driver of the truck since then which was more than a year ago.

My kids try this all the time. My 13 yr old daughter rolls her eyes because I'm always like grab your trash. When everyone is getting out on trips. But it doesn't take much to clutter up a cab.

I make it a point to grab my trash every time I get out. That way it never builds up. Problem solved.
