I found a 2020 platinum in the color I want, been waiting on Android auto and remote start. MSRP $54,944. I emailed a few dealers. One California dealer replied with $7,800 off, so $47,144. I emailed back right away to schedule a test drive, following day I sent a text. I haven't heard back. I suspect it was a mistake and now they're ignoring me? Unfortunately it's far enough away - 1.5 hours - that I'm not sure I want to go down there to find out. Is the dealership required to honor the price? I'm guessing once the truck sells I'll be the guys best bud again. What should I do? Other dealers only going down $2,500 on first email.

seems like 10-12% off is normal. With rebates and zero percent floating around it gets weird. Also the if you're trading in a vehicle then they mess with that. Remember you can't get the low interest and the rebate. Usually when you get a low number like this it includes the rebate. By the time you add the higher interest rates of a regular loan back in you were better off not taking the rebate.

They're not required to honor jack sh!t. Car/truck dealers are, in many (note I didn't say ALL) cases criminal business enterprises. What does that mean? It means: have your antenna up; watch/look/listen for crap that doesn't make sense; TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS.

This is a big purchase and investment. Patience is your both your friend and your ally.

From what I can tell there's no rebate or 0% on the 2020 yet. I think that's only 2019. Im not set on trading anything in at this point. I still like my 4runner. I never mentioned it on the price inquiry.

Almost forgot.... My wife's Subaru was 0% interest... I multiplied the number of payments by the payment price and it was higher than the purchase price! It got corrected, but trust no one!

Find another reason to drive that far and take some lube. Prepare for all the "dealer prep" and other bullshit they are gonna throw on. Call the dealership and talk to the internet sales guy and ask how much you should expect this to change. Then expect to walk away. If it is what they say, congratulations. Tell the salesman that if the number rises one dollar from the quote then you are walking.

Had this happen with a 2019, agreed through email to 50k out the door on 1794 MSRP 53220 with 0% instead of rebate. Dealer was 3 hours away. Every dealer around me told me good luck and couldn't match. Before I drove down I spoke with the salesman and he said oh we added the rebate and 0% but we'll honor it just come down. I said nope.
