Six months ago I replaced the brakes on my Tundra with Power Stop Z36 pads. I now have about three thousand miles on them. After install I felt that these pads were no better than OE. Over the weekend through the hills of Virginia I noticed the brake pads started to fade to the point where I almost went past the turn where I wasn’t able to slow down in time. Looking at replacing these pads with either EBC Extra Duty or Hawk LTS. Myself I’m looking at the EBC pads for lower dust and higher rated temperatures to resist brake fade. I would like to know if anybody has these pads and what their experiences were after install.

Curious if you’ve ever had your brake fluid flushed? Brake fade can be caused by the fluid getting too hot. As brake fluid gets older and breaks down it’s boiling point gets lower and thus, has lower hydraulic pressure.

I may do that this weekend. I have 25,000 miles on the truck. But a flush is easier to do, is cheeper and faster then trying new brakes.

I just changed out my brakes to the Power Stop Z36 rotors, calipers and Z-17 pads, I also flushed all the brake fluid. My truck is a '10 with 60k miles on it, fluid still looked perfect, I doubt that is the problem. Did you follow the break in procedure they recommend? I believe that is critical for their pads to work correctly, also stock rotors or Z36 rotors?

I changed my brakes in April and went with new OE Toyota rotors and Hawk LTS pads. The LTS pads seem a little better than the OE pads but they're also dirtier. I'm in northeast WI, the land of flat, so I don't have alot of hard braking on them but I went home to PA shortly after putting them on and they seemed to perform well in the mountains there.

Yes I did follow the break in procedure, a lot of people like these pads and rotors but some Like to use Hawk with the Prostop rotors too. My brake fluid looks perfect so I will do a test on the fluid first and I may still change it out anyway.

Both rotors and pads are pro stop. Thanks for your feed back.

I change out the OEM pads and went with WAGNERSX1303 from Rockauto and also replaced the front rotors with slotted rotors.........HUGE difference......I did this because I tow a 3k boat that has no brakes on the trailer......

Rear pads are MONROE HDX1304 with stock type rotors......

I haven't notice any extra dust build up but then again I don't care........I want to STOP more then look pretty.
