Going from 18s to 20s!

I think I may do it. I am a fan of Black Rhino wheels and I am loving these. I’m leveled with 6112 at 1.9. I have no idea what tire will work but I’m thinking 275/65/20?
I don’t off-road, I pull my boat and a pop up and hit dirt trails. Nothing extreme. Any pitfalls I should be aware of? I’m guessing I’ll need a spare and I’m hoping it will fit under the truck.

 

My truck came with 20' and an 18' Spare. Im actually looking to go from 20" fuel's to 18", lol. If you're not airing down or jagged off-road stuff, I don't really see any downfalls. It used to be 20" tires were more expensive, I don't see a huge price difference anymore.

 

They might ride harsher depending on the tire you get.

 

I don’t see myself doing much, if any. Interesting that you got an 18 spare. I’ve always been under the impression that it could cause some issues being they are traveling at different revolutions.

Well, I haven’t worked out the cash part yet.

 

275/65/20 is a great size to run. Not too wide, great height.
My Texas Edition had 285/55/20's stock. The previous owner went to the 275/65 because they are much cheaper than the 285's.

My truck was stock and I had no rubbing with the oe wheels.
I switched to Vision Rocker wheels (+12 offset) and I had to remove the mudflap on the front as well as the aero piece on the bottom of the front bumper.

I recently put on the Eibach pro sport shocks on the front at the top setting (~2"). It's a bit nose high but I've got shackles on the way.

I gave up on 20's.

My '06 F-150 had them and my '11 Tundra. I always had problems balancing any sets of tires I got with them. I tried it all from spin to road force and they would always end up out of balance again easily. I'm sticking with 18's on trucks going forward.

I have 275/65/20 and like the size. It fills the wheel wells nicely.

 

Just have to make sure the outer diameter is the same. Spare with 35's on 18" rim are fine with 35's on 20" rim regular tire. So you're spare tire will have a thicker sidewall than you're regular tires.

Clean truck. Was the hood scoop and grill worth the money? I love The way they look but not sure about the expense of that pro grill With collision censer cost.

That looks really awesome. Thinking of doing something like this but leaving the suspension bone stock for now. Not sure if that would work or not. Also, what tires are you running. Looks like the perfect blend of streetability and aggressiveness. My truck will almost never see any off roading, so I don't want to get anything too aggressive

 

Yeah, my truck is never off road. The yard or some gravel roads is as rough as it gets for me.

I have a set of Methods and some 305 RidgeGrapplers that I will be swapping into the rotation soon.

 

Curious if you can make it work stock without a bunch of modifications to the fenders etc.

 

It’s not the tire size that gets you it’s the offset of the wheels.

 

Yes. As I posted above the 275/65/20 will fit fine stock suspension and stock wheels. When you go aftermarket wheels their offset is typically much lower than stock offset (which is 55 or 60) and that’s what causes them to rub, as stated in the post below.
