Do you change the companion flange when doing rear pinnon seal?

    Hey guys, just looking to see for opinions on replacing the companion flange when replacing rear pinnon seal. Thanks for the advice!

    If the hub where the seal rides is scored deep then yes replace it most of the time you will have superficial scoring but that will clean up with emery cloth or 600 grit sand paper.

    It’s not necessary to replace it.

    The seal is cheap. Often the flange will get rusty right up to the point where the seal touches it. If the new seal leaks than I would look into replacing the flange. Otherwise like eddie said, just clean it up with some fine grit sand paper. But make sure your breather is not clogged up. That's usually the cause for the seal to leak.
