That was one of the scenarios my CC instructor emphasized. If there's a intruder in your house, by all means protect your family. Guy breaking into that beautiful Tundra in the driveway, negative.

    Good read @COMiamiFan:thumbsup:

I will say that living happily with the bad things you do, even when completely legal and justified, is not always easy. I have lost a lot of sleep over things that were nessecary but I am not proud of doing.

Bottom line, if someone is in my home they will be shot. I don’t see an instance where it won’t happen and I don’t give two shits about their family, Fellow gang member buddies or anyone else. We are becoming a society of weak pussies IMO.
Now, I do agree that I won’t end a life for a car, car stereo or any other meaningless things that can be replaced.
But, again, I’ll say that when someone is in my home and threatens my family (just being in there is a threat) I will have no mercy.
As for all the aftermath points. I’m prepared for them. I have mentally trained myself and I train often with my carry weapon.
To me, if someone chooses to break the law, and I don’t mean petty offenses, they need to understand they must deal with the consequences whatever they are.
    Good read, sir. Thank you.

That could easily go either way. And to the point of the OP, this guy has shelled out plenty for an attorney, possibly will spend much more on civil lawsuits, may lose his job and will certainly live with this for the rest of his life. Not to mention he could easily be going to prison over a TRUCK. In this scenario I feel I would be much more inclined to call the cops and let them deal with it.
The gun and fear for his life is total BS IMO. He saw a POS ripping off his truck and fired two shotgun rounds in his ass. Bottom line..

Pretty much...but I'd be hard pressed not too myself. I come from a poor family and worked my ass off to get where I am. Cooler heads always prevail...but that thought will always be in the back of your head if you're witnessing it.

Understood. We all assume our own risks. If the consequences can be accepted then you do what you need to do. I certainly wouldn’t accept the risk for a 15 year old GMC.

I would put myself between my pregnant wife and the POS but inside the house with shotgun pointed at door, wait for police, although I can’t say what I would do exactly if I was him as I’m not, military training, mindset, etc. No prejudice intended, we have a lot of crime coming from the reserve, it’s frequently in the news.

Interestingly, near where I live as well is where 2 guys answered a truck ad, took him out on a test drive, shot and incinerated him. The 2 had already answered another ad but sized the guy up as too big/strong, same kind of truck.

The later part of your post is exactly why I recently put in my gate.
While my parents were house-sitting (I never leave my home empty) they left for 4-5hrs and a car pulled down the drive (750ft long) and sat in front of my house. I got notification by camera.
Gate was installed the next week.

    Great thread, good posts!
I pray to never have to worry about an intruder - theft of my barn, insurance can take care of. But my home and the location is a tweakers dream come true.
Thankfully I’m at a dead-end. Only one way in and one way out, hopefully that deters them.

I been taught, when in doubt, always claim you're fearful of your life.

IMO, it doesn't take much for me to be fearful of my life. You just don't know how things are going to go in a confrontation. I didn't read all the details. The jury felt it was reasonable for him to feel that way.

Ultimately, you have to think of yourself in a confrontation. Sometimes, it is best to just walk away but be prepared to defend yourself if necessary.

This will stop most threats or at least give you the seconds to prepare for the next step. Most of you military members have experience tear gas and one never forgets that shit show.

I have personally never been hit with pepper spray, but have experienced a taser. Trust me, when an officer says stop or threatens the taser, it's wise to follow their directions. This was a volunteer tasing...FYI, not something like this.

I LOL every time watching this.

I can honestly say when I caught the meth head in my yard stealing, if I would of had my stun gun in my hand she would of been zapped, and I would not of called the cops...

Without thinking I was on that bitch in about 2 seconds. I was sitting on the porch drinking coffee at 4:45 am...
