Level Kit or Bilstein 5100's

Not to familiar with suspension and I would like to level my truck. What option would be best to level truck? If I choose Bilstein how high would the truck sit?

The Bilsteins are always a good option if you are looking to replace the shocks, our spacers will retain all factory suspension (since your truck is new I am assuming that your shocks are not blown).

Pros and cons to both, it just boils down to what your plan is with the truck.

depending on your usage. Pavement princess - billies will do fine and will sit about 2.75 inches higher than stock.

Toytec is a great vendor to go through. Solid customer service and won't screw you over.

 

I would like a little lift but also level the truck at the same time and won't be doing much off roading. My shocks aren't blown but wasn't sure the benefits of doing level kit vs shocks that would lift my truck.

Would it be smart to buy front and rear's billies or should I just buy front's and what setting would make it even with rear?

 

Bilstein 6112s at 1.9in clip would basically level you off!

 

Bilstein 5100 is definitely a better option over spacers, even if you don't go off road.

Cheapest: get two fronts, set to the middle setting and you should be pretty much leveled.
Better: get four, do the same. Or you could put it to the highest setting and lift the rear a little.
Even better: the sky is the limit.

 

Okay I’d rather go with better route for now and just to be clear I would buy all for 5100 or 6112. Adjust the front to middle setting and leave the rears alone.

 

That's a good option. Later on, if you want more height, you could always add on something in the rear and put the front on higher setting.

6112's are only for the front (some match them with 5100 in the rear. Some opt for 5160.). They are 3 inch shocks and more $$. For your use, I would say 5100 is more than enough.

 

Really all depends on what you would prefer.

middle setting on Billies will level you out (1.9" if i'm not mistaken)
You wouldn't need to touch the rears until you're ready for new ones. If you were going to raise the rear, you'd definitely need new rear shocks. Staying stock, not so much.

That's what I did with my BOSS kit. I did the fronts first then later on added the rears. That's what my budget allowed at the time.

Quick question and bumping up an old thread during my research. My 2015 1794 really only sees pavement, I only tow a couple times a year, very little mild off-roading (just camping and the like). I have the TRD rear roll bar on the back, do I need some kind of adapter to continue to use it?

I think I'm leaning toward Bilstein 5100's up front, highest setting, but want to keep the rear a bit higher for when I do tow. Would a simple 2" spacer kit be OK, or should I go with shackles? Thanks for the help!

 

When you say roll bar, I'm assuming you mean Sway bar, and it should work fine. If you do 5100's up front at it's highest, you will probably want at least 1.5 inches in the rear to keep the rear higher. I would recommend the @Coachbuilder1 +3 shackles and you really should get new rear shocks, 5100's would be fine. You may have to mount your sway a little differently, but it will still work.

 

Sorry, I did mean the sway bar. Good to hear that'll work fine still. What's the added benefit to going 5100's in the rear with the shackles versus stock shocks with <40k miles on them? Will the ride improve noticeably? Thank you

 

The stock rear shocks are not meant to be used with any type of rear lift.

 

Assuming you have the stock black shocks, you will notice a difference. If you have the blue and yellow 4600 shocks on now, you probably wouldn't notice a difference. Bilstein says the 4600 and 5100 are the same shock except the 5100 allows for an additional inch of travel.

 

On the 1st Gen Tundra, the Toyota branded yellow & blue Bilstein's had softer valving than the aftermarket 4600's. The TRD red Bilstein's were the same as the 4600's.
