Is the current Generation Tundra a Gen3 or Gen2? Seems like only minor tweaks from Gen2 to Gen3, or did I miss something?

Any way, the Next Gen (likely 2021) looks like will not have. a V8 option. And looking at the spy photos, looks like it loses the power up/down rear window on the crewmax. Anyone else notice this?

I'd be happy with a twin scroll turbo 6 if the longevity and fuel economy are there. Everybody loved the 2JZ-GTE engine for tune-ability and durability.

My understanding is Toyota considers the current Tundra to still be a Gen 2 Tundra, as the updates were really only cosmetic.

Still a Gen2, just in a never ending state of ‘mid cycle’ refresh updates

I wouldn’t put too much into the spy photos and what they mean for the rear window. These are just test mules. Cab and body look almost same. Just testing powertrain and suspension on these.

full sliding back window is the best feature on the tundra. Not sure why every truck doesn't offer this.

Stop-gap measures can go on and on and on, but they will eventually release a completely redesigned Tundra.

Not sure why the double cab doesn't offer it, either!

Seems silly to fight over the 2nd of 3rd gen thing when Toyota says 3rd gen. I will just call mine a 2016.

It is a real silly thing to me but have seen this posted several times from Toyota web site and just checked the link to still be active. Only Tundra groups know there is a disagreement. I once asked a 'NO 3RD GEN" poster on FB where are the rules that say powertrain change is required to make a new gen and got no real answer, just body change don't count.

Why isn’t there a blizzard Pearl option?! The tundra would look amazing in pearl white.

Someone on this forum emailed Toyota a while back and posted a screen shot of the email they received. In it, Toyota state they consider the current Tundra to be the "Gen 2". This was months ago that I saw this posted.
