I am an xm subscriber. I am installing a factory navigation hu (purchased from a member), in place of my factory NON navi HU and want my xm to travel to the new hu.

Is it as simple as unplugging the xm Tuner from the old hu and plugging it into the new hu and voila?

    Thanks for the replies!

Could you elaborate a little? Are you you going from a factory head unit to an aftermarket ie; Kenwood/Pioneer?

Im pretty sure it will work. The receiver is registered with your XM provider so it should be active.

It's like moving a cable / dish box from an old TV to a new one.

You have to get the new radio id and transfer your subscription to it. Either call or you can make an account and do it online.

if you are transferring your current XM tuner to the new HU it should be plug and play and you will not need a new radio id. The radio idea is assigned to the XM tuner

Sounds like he is installing a new hu with new radio id. I’m pretty sure the xm tuner is in the hu and not external like some aftermarket radios.

If it is a factory HU he is going to the tuner is not integrated in to the HU. It is a separate box that plugs in to the HU and bolts on to the same bracket under the HU. I switched to a non nav HU to a factory nav HU and just moved my XM tuner to the new one so I didn't have to deal with XM and changing my account etc.
