Sony joins the tablet screen trend

Looks like Sony is getting into the big screen game. Looks better than the halo 9 and a lot cheaper.

I need one with a better resolution. Kenwood has one with a 720p but it's only an 7" screen

 

I'm not a fan of those. Just doesn't look good to me. Looks like someone just stuck an iPad on their dash. I much prefer the built in look.

 

hopefully a much better resolution than the HALO 9

 

I'd love a see a higher end model made to be mated up with the GS9. Use the panel for wireless AA/Car iOS and support a large format drive for flacs while using the GS9. I'd love to get the big screen in our large cabs for google maps and for browsing/controlling large music collections. Getting there.

 

Anyone install one in a Tundra yet?

 

To each their own I guess, but I'm with ya. Alpine has some direct replacement units they make for specific vehicle models that look really nice. I reached out to them about making something for the Tundra but they said they had no plans to do so at the time.

 

When the iPad first came out, I thought itd be a helluva idea to make the screen out of; I always wondered why apple never hopped in this arena.

Sign a deal with Toyota and start throwing "iPads" in the dashes. In a few years all the domestics would be clamoring to get it on their vehicles, just like everyone needs the iphone, airpods, apple watch, etc.

I guess at this point touch screens/tablet screens have caught up to them quite a bit, so the margins aren't there now. Still think they missed the boat here.
