I'm thinking of trading in my 2015 CM and picking this truck up to be my daily driver . I drive about 30k miles a year and want a truck that I own outright so I am not being killed with neg equity on the daily. I hate the color but this looks extremely clean and has a great service history. It should serve the purpose. I can also rack up some miles and hand this down to my son in 15 months when he starts driving. Right in time for the new 2021 Tundra to release!!!

Ill be like 2-3k upside down in my truck so I was thinking if I can get out the door under 12k, Id be happy and debt free cause Id pay cash. Would that be a fair/ good deal ?

What price would be a good buy? Are there any known issues with the gen 2 4.7l once the miles get up there?

On the mileage, the first Million Mile Tundra was a 4.7 V8, so I wouldn't worry about the miles.

So go into negative for a 7 year older truck, with a smaller engine, more wear and tare?

......and not a 4X4?... Just traded my 07 with literally just under a 100K miles recently for a 14 with 104K miles. 7 years newer. Upgrade to Limited. I was very hesitant, but a wise choice....BLAAAAACK..

I wasn't even concerned at all with my new to me 14 having 104K miles. I average 8K a year and I'm 63. My new tunny will out last me...

There would be virtually no negative. I’d pay cash and the truck would be my sons in 15 mo that when he gets his license.

The limited features are nothing that I care to have or not. That’s why I went with an sr5 with leather. I’d even argue that the aftermarket leather is nicer than the oem. I also don’t need 4wd. I have never needed nor used it in the past. I basically drive 30k+ miles on the freeway visiting customers.

Wasn't sure if you needed 4X4 of course. I can attest that my Limited leather and interior is a huge upgrade for me from my 07 SR5. Do what's best for your situation! All of of us here have different needs including myself. I have a budget that I'm trying to stick to.

It has not been easy getting excited about making this potential move. Financially it makes sense but I really like my current truck and know the majority of it’s history.

Curious. What are a few things you like significantly better about the limited vs sr5?

My 07 was truly outdated. I really like the interior and NAV/hands free goodies on my 14 . I've never had a truck this nice. I'm old school. Do what's best for you Charles:thumbsup:

I’d say if you’re worried about negative equity, keep the ‘15 until the wheels fall off. If you’re on the highway all the time, your truck should last 500,000+ miles easy. I’d say buy your kid a 2008 when he’s ready for his own ride and keep the truck you know and love... and have maintained. Your taking a lot for granted Buying a truck with 181,000 on the clock. IMO anyway.

Don't know about the 2nd gen 4.7 reliability but I like your thinking in saving money, giving your son a nice older truck and then waiting for a new 2021.
My new 2019 will be my son's also. Only thing is he has to wait 6 years as he is only 10.

Yes you did, but you need to start your own intro thread separate from this one.
