I have a 2019 tundra six seater so the gear shifter ( I think that's what it's called) is on the wheel.

Every morning I put my truck in reverse to back the truck up and drive. I notice that it's hard to put it in reverse and most of the time it skips R and goes directly to d for drive. This happens most of the time when I try to put the truck in reverse. What do you guys think?

Are you parking on an incline? I had a similar issue that was caused by parking on an incline, try setting your parking brake before you shift into park then cut off the truck. When you start the truck, shift into reverse then release the parking brake and see if you notice a change. On mine the problem was being caused by the weight of the truck resting on the transmission instead of the brakes.

If it keeps doing that, take it to the dealer. As already mentioned, if parked on a slope, not uncommon. If on a level surface you shouldn't have any shifting issues.
