Installing on a 2018 Tundra crewmax 4x4 trd off road Limited.

75316-01A which the retailer said was for the 2017-18.
I installed it. Everything in the directions lined up with the truck. The step comes out from under the side of the truck where the bumper wraps around and hits on one corner of the step in the up position. Doesn't look good, out of square/level.
I called Amp technical support and asked him what part # I should have. He stated the one above. Then I told him how it looks and how its seated. Then he said I must need the

75309-01A which is for the 2014-16 body. That tundra must have changed the bumper again. That it shouldn't be seated as I described. I emailed the retailer that I ordered it from and he says he talked to AMP and he gave me the right part number. Seems like no one has put this on a 2018 to know for sure to give me the correct advise. There is only one way I can put it on and have it match the bolt holes for all the brackets during installation. I can't see how I can have it wrong. I don't know whats going on here.
Anyone has 1st hand experience installing one on a 2018 tundra?

 

Hey - Just signed up after searching for the same issue. I have the same problem on my 2018 CM with the same number. When the step is in the folded up position, it hits the bottom of the bumper. Repeated use like this will definitely cause damage over time.

Looking for a solution, wondering if the old part number would fit better. All the bolt holes line up good like you said also - the step itself needs to be 1"-2" lower while in the upright position.

 

Contact Amp back before it’s to late.. Have them swap you out if you bought from a authorized dealer.

 

Copy, time is short! Anyone know if the previous design would fit better? I would hate to swap it out only to discover it also doesn't fit or fits worse.

 

Exactly. Only one corner of the step hits the bottom of the bumper. Amp told me it should stop in the up position before making contact with the bumper. But he was referencing how the 2017 fit. I’m guessing the bumper is different on the 2018 and amp is not aware of it.

I’m returning mine. Sucked installing it and seeing how it ended up, then pulling it back off and putting all the truck bolts back on. I knew I wasn’t gonna use it when I seen how it sat in the closed position.

 

I’m not getting another one until someone tries it and confirms the fit. It was an online order so I’ll be taking a lost on shipping. Don’t want to chance the older model not working.

 

Then I would call Toyota parts department and see if the bumper or the brackets were changed on the 2018. Have Toyota look them up and compare

 

They did have that stop-sale last year while they designed new bumper brackets. Not sure if that’s related.

75316-01A on my 2019 Tundra and have the same issue (hits bumper on one side when retracting). At first I wasn’t sure if I installed it correctly, but like Indyy said all the new brackets and bolt holes line up. I had the AMP step on a 2012 Tundra and it matched bumper lines perfectly. This one just looks like it was thrown on sideways and crooked. I intend to call AMP and see if they are aware of this problem. Hopefully this isn’t the best engineering they could come up with, even with the brackets Toyota added to the bumper and fender.

I had the Amp steps on my truck. They worked okay for awhile, but then started binding and not fully retracting. There is very little wiggle room in adjusting them. I would try to adjust, lubricate the hell out of the brackets, and they would work again for a short time. Eventually, I got fed up with them and installed N-Fab rails and steps.
