I don't change tires. I repair them on the vehicle.

Well, at least we all know he has never been in the pit crew of a nascar race team.

All jokes aside, this is the time to slow down, do a good job, and get to Discount Tire for a repair/replacement.

I think it took me 15-20 minutes out in the middle of the desert with no cell service. I used the factory jack and my breaker bar with an extension and socket. The real time waster was digging under the tire because the factory jack sunk into the soft dirt. I had wood to use as a base, but I didn't use it. So yeah the factory jack sucks and yeah any man should be able to do it. I'll expend that to anybody who plans to go outside cell service areas should be capable of changing their tire with what they have in hand.

I have plugs with me also, but the last tire killed itself on a sharp rock and I didn't have any 5" round plugs on hand.

What a hillbilly, I work smarter, not harder. Floor jacks and pneumatic tools. No idea how long it took him, i was bored 20 seconds in. Youtube can be good sometimes, but it is going the way of television, mostly just a stream of mindless pablum. chunk.

Yeah...no. There's a reason good tools were invented and why I upgrade the tools kept on board.

Did it on my old 94 Yota once out in the bush. Took well under 15 minutes, including dropping the spare, dragging the shitty factory tools out and tossing the flat tire into the bed. Did it on my aunt's 2003 Tahoe in about the same time for the same amount of work, but in her garage because she doesn't have shop tools.

Hahahahaha no thanks on the challenge! I rotate my own tires so I don’t need any practice testing my speed with the factory tools and Jack. If the time comes that I have to change my spare tire on the side of the road, I’m quite confident that I can get it done with the factory equipment. And I don’t bother timing myself because the last thing I want to do is injure myself on the side of the road. As I’m sure I’m probably on my way to or from a nice vacation. I imagine it would take me about 20 minutes to a half hour. But I’m not trying to win a race in 100° heat in the middle of the desert.

Good mindset. When I break something I take it as a chance to really soak in the situation. There's not many situations where rushing a bad fix couldn't just make them worse.

I'm wondering if the guy in the video wasn't just trying to get people thinking. I'm all for reminding people that they should at least check that they have all the tools necessy to change a tire. I think many people don't have the tools or skills to deal with minor issues like this. Many of them have probably never considered the possibility of needing them.

That’s a good point. In my younger days I tried to rush everything and get it done as fast as I could. Now I’m more methodical so I only have to do it once. People definitely need to make sure they know how to do at least a simple flat tire change. I have helped a few people change a flat tire in the past. I couldn’t help myself as I watched them look at it like it was all foreign to them.

Couple years ago I had to change a flat on my buddies boat trailer. This was out in the middle of the desert. Even though it was so simple we were sweating our asses off. Trying to move too quickly wouldn’t of helped. It was more about being efficient and not making a stupid mistake. About 50 miles down the road, the spare tire blew out. Luckily he had a second spare that was a doughnut. This time the boat shifted so we decided to put the donut spare on the lighter side of the trailer and the good tire on the side that the boat shifted to. What a fiasco. Rushing that tire change probably would’ve put me down from heat stroke LOL. We made it to the next town and bought three new tires.

Right LOL! With all the tools laying right there ready to go it couldn’t get any easier. What makes it a bitch is when you’ve got the backseat stuffed with crab so it’s difficult to get to your jack. And then putting all that shit away. It takes more time to get ready to change the tire than to actually change it. And most of the time I’ve got my bed full of stuff so I’d have to put the spare back up under the truck.
