    I went with the Platinum.
I do not do any true off road driving at this stage of my life with a young family of 3 kids.
I needed the space and ability to tow a camp trailer.
But I do (and the wife) want to be as comfortable and have all the options when I am in the truck with everyone.
You are correct with the price negotiating.
I have not personally priced out the suspension swap, I say price it out and negotiate it out of the dealer.

Then you get all the confort features and can swap out the suspension as planned financially.

Let us know which one you choose!

Back to this post.. Can this setup you mentioned or any other compete with the Pro in terms of fast/high speed off roading?

I would get the Platinum. The seats, leather wrapped steering wheel, dual zone climate control. Much easier to upgrade the suspension on the Platinum then it would be to get all those extras on the Pro

Theres more in the platinum interior wise than the PRO hands down. Not only do you have every option available but you can add to it. Its way more expensive to go PRO and than add all the interior mods to it.

Go with the Platinum. Then make it what you want. Add the TRD pro suspension parts if you like them. Add your own wheels and tires.

Couple more points for the Pro suspension being overpriced is they cant be adjusted or rebuilt like others in their price range and ive heard they are very sucseptable to rear sag if you tow regularly or tow heavy loads

With the premium leather, blind spot monitor, and automatic folding mirrors I went for the platinum.

Thanks, would the leveling kit eliminate the rubbing? Please share more photos if you've got em!

I stopped by the dealer today with my gal.. To say the least the Platinum looked so soft compared to the PRO.. She kept on gravitating towards it and did not like the platinum at all. I was getting annoyed lol... Kept telling her the wheels were gonna go and it was gonna be taller like the PRO.

Was just in to local Toyota Dealership today and they were installing a 7” BDS lift on a brand new platinum. Fam member is shop foreman, also a good friend just picked up his 19 and they put a 2” cheap block/spacer lift in for him. Just one dealership here doing it locally.
Myself, Id prefer to install my own coilover/shackle lift and do other mods to my selected trim.

I was surprised by it as well, $3000 is about what they charged to install the lift.

You’ll pay 3k+ just for pro suspension that everyone changes to toytec/king or fox anyways. And it’s a fraction of the cost of pro stuff. Aligns and handles better anyways. I’m no leather fan as it’s not real leather anyways.

Best way to do it is buy one ya like. Save up for the mods and drive it out of warranty. Then lift and all that jazz. Half the ppl never take it off-road anyways. Spend 10k just to look cool at wall mart parking lots lol. But if ya got the money why not. If you get toytec lift here in Colorado the Toyota dealers out here warranty if it’s put on by them. (At least that’s what they say) get it on writing if you do tho. Sounds like you like everything about the platinum and the only thing you like about the pro is the bedstamp. So I would go with the plat. And then change it all out as you go and you’ll be happy!

You're so right! $200 in parts and 1-2hrs of labor and they can upcharge you 5k or more, and you get a rougher ride and potential problems down the road..Spacers should go away or at the very least dealerships shouldnt be able to install them on vehicles they sell. They should only be a stop gap before a suspension lift, and even then why not just have some patience.

^^ I think this might be the answer, except for the voodoo blue part.

I know this thread has run its course, but I just learned something this weekend while purchasing some factory trd/pro wheels for my limited, which seems relevant but hasn't been mentioned here. Perhaps somebody else can verify if this is true, because I'd never heard it before:

I was told that the platinums have larger brake calipers than the sr5, limited or pro, which FORCE you to use 20" wheels. If that's true, it would be a deal killer for me.

The ability to use a smaller, 18" (and even some 17") wheels gets you most of the real-world benefits of a lift kit (taller sidewalls / more cushion / smoother ride / ability to air down further for crawling) without the negatives (higher center of gravity / warranty issues / mechnical stresses).

I agree the pro suspension isn't worth it, but trying to turn a platinum into an off-road vehicle might be a case of one step backward and THEN two steps forward.

That is good to hear, if true. Maybe there are differences between years? Guy who told me / sold me the take-offs drove a 3rd gen platinum & was in the wheel sales business.
