So I found out the hard way that my key only works in my ignition and not my door. My keyfob has been the only way I've locked/unlocked my doors until recently so I didn't realize this.

The strange thing is the key turns in the door, as a working key would, but nothing happens...

I bought the truck (2014 Tundra Crewmax Ltd.) used about a year ago.

Any ideas? Could the mechanism that locks/unlocks be disconnected form the cylinder or would I need to get everything rekeyed?

I did not, they're the factory silver still, obviously anything could've occurred before I purchased it though.

Doing this doesn’t change the lock mechanism.

no it doesn't but if it was removed and the shaft was not aligned correctly it wont lock or unlock the doors.

another test is opening the windows via the key

I had a similar issue and was able to remediate it by removing the cylinder and adjusting it. Hopefully it’s as simple
for you....follow the instructions in the mod to remove the handle.
