My coworker who is a FORD fanboy and owns an F150 (and 5 other Ford vehicles) just showed me this video.

Yes it's kinda cool to have an all electric truck pulling 1million lb train on train tracks, (less friction IMO than on a paved road), however, at frame 4:49, "Built Ford tough is all about durability, capability and productivity".. :D says nothing about reliability.

Just thought I'd share. I guess when Ford builds cars with "reliability" in mind, I might bite but until then. No thanks.

Electric motors have had these capabilities for a while now... building a one-off is easy.

This is just a marketing ploy.

Commercial vehicles are quickly being switched over to electric power as they cost less to operate and maintain, and as they spend less time in the shop for service and repairs there is less downtime for the fleet operator. UPS and similar fleet operators are well aware of the cost savings with electric powered trucks.

Ford will also be introducing a hybrid pickup as will Ram and Honda and GM, but nothing from Toyota - go figure.

But most people are stuck in the past and unable to open their minds to new ways of doing things. Personal computers have been around for 40 years but it is only in the last 10 years that people in the construction industry and building trades have bothered to have an email account.
