    Question.

I've been quoted for an aftermarket glass replacement (manual with slide window center) for 425$.

And also 700+ for replacement with glass from dealership.

I have a 500 deductible so either way I'm paying out of pocket 400 or deductible 500.

Anybody have any issues with non original glass replacement? This is my first Toyota and first back glass replacement, so thanks for the advice in advanced.

I would always go with OEM glass, if it were me. Especially for only a $100 more.

Thanks for the thread link. I have no glass experience. Going to watch a few videos on it, but what would you guys do? DIY or pay the labor?

If DIY OEM isnt a huge deal, but so far it's about a 300 dollar difference if I have someone else do it. What's your thoughts on that Jrharvey02?

I’d watch the videos and if you feel comfortable, go for it with OEM...if not, back glass is the least noticeable, so I’d consider non oem. I’d never consider non oem windshield or window glass, back glass maybe...

Not all glass is created equal, there are much better qualities out there, which Toyota uses. Goes all the way back to the sand used...

Thanks for all the input friends, I'll do that and report back with my choice and cost and outcome in a few weeks.

Car dealerships make most of their profit from the sales of parts and service. Aftermarket parts are as good as "Toyota" parts which are seldom actually manufactured by Toyota in the first place. What is important is the quality of the installation to avoid water leaks in the future and I would expect a glass or auto body shop to have a lot more experience than the guys at the dealership's service department.
