Yea just a crappy design on toyotas part but if this is one of the few flaws ill take it. Quick question should i worry about the plates to close up the pumps under the wheel wells? I may be able to purchase these seperatly from one of the guys selling the bypass kits. Also any down sides to this install?

I bought a cheaper kit off a guy on the 4runner forums "slyfox" it was less than $50 so I didn't even bother to attempt to come up my own solution. It's basically a relay that you tap into intake air temp to trick at cranking only to never run the AIP. If it's not failed no need to install the plates. Should be a ten minute install.

I never installed the plates. I've run it 100k with no issue.

I'm having a similar issue with secondary air injection pump on my truck, codes came on at 100k then went away and came back multiple times, I am currently at 152k and now goes into constant limp mode. How can I get ahold of Slyfox to purchase the bypass?

I never heard of this slyfox version. Is it similar to the one I listed above?

For $30, it seems it would be worth a try.as long as the AIP ecu has not been reflashed, it would be the same.

How would I check to see if that has been completed before?

You can unstick a stuck air injection pump valve and close.

What's the best way to do that? Is it a permanent fix or only temporary?

I've started a petition on Change.org for Toyota to address the secondary air injection issue. Here's the link: http://chng.it/p5gJY4rp7M
It saddens me that a company that I've been loyal to for over 30 years has let a problem like this continue at the consumers expense. Please pass this on to anyone you know has had the same problems. My truck is in "limp" mode now and I'm on the 3rd repair for the same problem.
