    Just curious what you guys who are running Mobil 1 are using. I’m due to be changing the oil in my truck for the first time. I read a post on here the other day saying that the advanced fuel economy 0w-20 makes the valvetrain more noisy, which I don’t want. I guess it’s basically down to the advanced fuel economy, extended performance, or the annual protection Mobil 1. What are you guys thoughts and experiences with all of these? I have the MotivX filter housing tool and drain hose on the way from Amazon. Never have had a vehicle with a canister filter so this will be a learning experience for me also. Any tips and tricks you guys have would be much appreciated. I know I also need to add an RCI or equivalent skid plate with access door to the list also for next go round.

    I have always ran Mobil 1 0W-20 so not sure on the noise difference. I and alot of others run that the Fumoto valve on the oil pan makes a lot less mess.

    Airbox with K&N Filter, 2" lift on 33's, Alpine iLX-F309 head unit, Pull out bed tool boxes, brown with black trim, rims, etc, black leather interior, matching topper. Muffler delete (too loud..) 62k miles!!!
    I run 0w30 mobil 1, less noise as I have tried the 0w20 as well. Get the aluminum housing ASAP. Best mod ever!

    I used Advanced Fuel Economy Mobil 1 on my first change. I deliberated about the choice on the second change, and went with the Extended Performance Mobil 1. The Extended Performance costs a few bucks more, but because my Tundra is not driven much, I will extend the change interval beyond 12 months. I believe the Extended Performance has additional additives to neutralize more combustion by-product acid in the crankcase, bwdik.

    Bottom line, if you're using Mobil 1, you're golden. All those different sub-brands they have now are mostly a marketing ploy IMO...something for everyone. I'm pretty sure it's all the same base oil with maybe slightly different additive packages. For example, in Mobil 1's literature it tells you that the only reason that Advanced Fuel Economy has the title is because of the 0W20 viscosity rating. Any other sub-brand has a slightly different additive package to achieve whatever goal it's seeking.

    Just a 2.5" axle nut socket they sell those also $22 I believe.

    I've used Mobil 1 for all my engine oil changes. Advance Fuel Economy I believe. I go 10,000 miles on the oil and Blackstone Labs says it tests great. I'm at 52,000 miles now so I've done 4 changes.

    I too have the Jowett Performance cartridge oil housing cap (with the Fumoto valve as well). Dear Gawd is it nice. I got the 2.5" hex "socket" from them. Super duper pooper EASY!!

    I’ve never sent off and had an oil analysis done. How long does Blackstone say you could extend to on this oil? Honestly since we have several many vehicles I’ll probably be changing once a year.

    Tundra oil changes are an old and prolific subject. Do a search for plethora of ideas about tools, oil filter housings, torque values, etc. Meantime, here are links to Toyota bulk filters and oil drain plug gaskets:

    :notsure: Is 10K oil change interval a psychological barrier for you? Nothing bad is going to happen. If you must, use Blackstone testing to provide a security blanket until you can overcome your fear. :D

    Honest mistake. In your post (#26), you quoted McGov (#17) where he was talking about doing 10K mile oil changes. Sorry.

    Some have a problem with 10K oil change interval. TundraMcGov and I don't, but each is entitled to do as they please. :thumbsup:
