I noticed your bro lean the other day with just your cap on picture. Didn’t say anything, but since you brought it up I can only imagine it with some mulch. Not sure what to suggest other than all new springs built to give you that lift. The cheap temporary way is air bags from readings.

Couple of questions for everyone:

1) If you have saggy springs, does your Tundra have the ‘off road package’? Reason I ask is there is a distinction in springs when ordering factory OEM springs.

2) If you have been voting for the donkey party, do you still plan doing so with their continuing going off the rails of the crazy train? Serious yes/no question as I look around wonder who in their right mind is supporting the madness we are complaining about.

3) Have you considered moving to Fantasy Island? No need for guns here, but you can still bring them.

We're not allowed to discuss politics on here so I'll skirt around this as best as I can. I believe both parties are morally bankrupt and actively trying to destroy the county at our expense. The huge divide between the two is making things worse as neither party is trying to help us peasants, their only goal is to beat the other party. Historically, the party I have supported claims to be fiscally responsible, but in the past two years while they have been in control, we have seen record deficits. This is during a time when the economy is strong and we should be paying down debt. Instead, we have slashed revenue while increasing spending. My generation is completely f*cked when it comes to this. Millennials are the scapegoat for a lot of things but the reality is that we don't run the government. When all the boomers die we will be left to figure out what to do with this crippling debt and crumbling infrastructure that they left us with.

At this point, I no longer support any particular party as they are all hypocrites and liars.

 

I'll get us back on topic. I went ahead and ordered the ICON expansion pack from AutoAnything. Our forum AA employee was able to beat any prices I found and also got free shipping. I'll keep you guys posted on the install.

 

I think you'll be happy with them. Hardest part of the install for me was getting the truck safely supported high enough. I ended up chocking the front wheels, lifting it as high as possible under the pumpkin, using jack stands on a base of 2x12s on either side of the rear frame rails, then taking the rear tires off, then lowering the jack.

Having a lift wold have make it a whole lot easier.

 

I'm not going to lie, the shop offering to do it for only $200 is very tempting. I don't own a tool capable of cutting the U Bolts or an impact wrench. Trying not to buy more tools before we move either.

 

I'd probably jump on that. If not you can pick up a grinder at Hazardous Freight for $15 and leave it with the house

An impact isn't really necessary, I did mine with hand tools.

 

Very interested in hearing how it turns out. I think the ad a leaf is what my truck needs eventually. A full pack would be awesome, but money is money haha.

Sorry to get political with my previous post. I was just pointing out what I've seen as a life long Utah'n. It's a beautiful country and there is beauty from sea to sea... Especially if you have 4wd and enough ground clearance to go find it.

 

I think I'm going to give these a few coats with a rattle can before installing. The finish is a bit rough. Anyone have paint suggestions?

 

I just did the same with mine. I put about 5 coats over 2 weeks of Krylon satin black, which is my personal favorite all-rounder.

 

Do these factory rear springs droop that much? Could you not cut the ubolts and then lift the truck off of the springs, add the extra leaves and then set it back down? This is essentially the process that I used lifting the rear of a 1st gen 4runner and two 1st gen Tacomas.

While you are at it, replace the bushing in the front eye and the shackles.

Rustoleum High Heat ceramic black. Works well on under chasis areas. Flat and bonds well. Easy touch up.

 

I have had decent luck with appliance epoxy. That's what I just purchased to coat the front of my frame where I had to do some minor surgery. I haven't done any springs before, but it has worked well on some axles and such.

 

That might work. It did drop a long way once I had everything supported though.

Here's mine with 2 kegs in cans filled with ice, 4 rolling coolers filled with bottled water and ice. No idea on the weight but it rode well.

Both, and the Alcans cost less than Deavers.

I tried two different add-a-leaf before settling on extra capacity Alcans and an Air-Lift system. The add-a-leaf worked great with a heavy load, but they really jacked the rear when unloaded and the ride was harsh & bouncy.

 

Good call on this. I'm not sure if the can I found is "ceramic" but everything else was the same. I like the way it looks when dry. I even touched up a few spots on the frame that needed it.

 

That's interesting. Most people said the ride improved after adding these. I guess I'll find out soon. Just curious, what brand add-a-leaf did you try?

 

Its self priming too. Cheap and touches up when needed again in the future.

1st was from Wheelers, and the second had an adjustable coil spring loaded bar attached (Hellwig maybe).
The one with the spring was the best of the two I tried.

 

Quick question on this topic. I have a 1" spacer in front and an AAL in the back, and currently it sags ever so slightly in the back, which really bothers me.

Keeping cost as the deciding factor, should I do a whole leaf pack or could I accomplish a slight adjustment with a fresh AAL?

 

What AAL do you currently have on the truck? Is the overload spring still in the leaf pack?

 

Not sure, PO put it in. The guy is a marine mechanic so if I had to guess, it would not be a cheap option.
