I have been a lurker on this site for a long time even before I got my latest Tundra so I trust peoples judgement here. So that said I posted pictures of my truck setup yesterday after I got some new shocks and wheels and tires.. Looks amazing but I crawled under the truck yesterday looking for the place where some wheel balancing weights had fallen off and I found these deep gouges in the inside of all the rims at every 15 minute mark. I notified the installer but I wondered if anyone has ever seen this and what I should do moving forward in terms of damages. Sort of makes me sick and a bit pissed off at the same time.. I'm not going to upload ever pic. You get the idea with one or two..20190609_152455_001.jpg 20190609_152755.jpg 20190609_152754_001.jpg

Yep, tire mounting. That would T me off as well and is another good example as a "What makes you angry" in another post.

I had a shop put a real deep scratch the full circumference of one of my wheels. Basically what pissed me off the most was I was the one who had to bring it up. I understand that mistakes happen but I feel like its the shop responsibility to fix there mistakes. Anyways the scratch was only on one of my wheels, but they ended up buying me a new wheel (factory) and told me it was the alignment machine that did it?

Anyways, Hoping the best for you man, hopefully the shop can stand up to there mistake.

Thanks all for the comments.. I'm not sure of how far to push this.. I'm concerned that it could just add to my frustration if I got aggressive.. I just sent the pictures over and explained that I paid for new wheels not damaged goods.. I'll keep the thread updated..

Hi All.. I have an update. a bit late because my wife had hip R&R surgery. At any rate the company, Rebel Off Road were the ones who installed my shocks and then my tires & rims. I called them when I found the damaged rims and the customer service rep, actually the guy I had been talking with all along told me that they would rebalance the tires for free.. ;-) I sort of laughed and said but what I really want is what I bought, which is undamaged rims.. So a week later they installed new rims. I never got to the bottom of what really happened and not an apology was to be had but I did get new rims so all is well.

That sucks, but good on you for sticking with it and getting new wheels. Moving forward next time you get tires done and you don't want anything to happen to your rims check with multiple tire shop/dealers for what type of tire machine they are using. It looks to me (from a decent amount of expertise) the machine had metal feet that expanded and clamped onto the base of the wheel. Unfortunately the installer is using an antiquated tire machine that when designed was primarily meant for steel wheels and not the softer aluminum wheels most manufactures use today. The two tire machines we have in our dealership are both aluminum wheel safe, one has rubber feet that come out and clamp onto the inside of the rim, and the other one (my preference) is a machine we bought to primarily do super low profile (think Acura NSX) and very stiff wheels. This mounts the wheel through the center cap hole and has a very tight fit and zero damage. I've done big truck wheels to run flat BMW's dished and non-dished, all perfect with no damage.

Just something to consider in the future.

    It never ends does it?
My GF's Lexus IS350F has been cosmetically damaged every time it's gone in for service.

Scratched/chipped wheels, glove box door scratched, gouge in the window tint. Really disappointing considering the money she parted with for both the car and the prepaid service.
