What do you TOW with your Tundra?

Nice truck. Had the same wheels on my 15 I just traded in last weekend.

You need the hyper tech speedo recalibrated to correct your speedo...if you are bothered by the difference. I ran it on mine. Then later got the Bully Dog from Keith for the performance part.

 

We just got back from an epic road trip towing trailers through five states. Friends we were with towed their blue Micro Minnie and it did great. We rarely have hookups and their solar panel case keeps them going. Winnebago makes some cool stuff.

 

Another happy Winnebago Minnie owner here. Mine is a 2018. We spend as much time as we can with it at the Virginia State Parks.

 

That hypertech speedo seems pretty easy. Can you do more then one vehicle on that programmer or does each vehicle needs it's own? Thanks

 

1 vehicle. It gets left in. Plugs in-between the truck and the gauge cluster. There is a cable that you plug into it to make your adjustments. I had that cable left in after install in case any further adjustments were needed. This way you don't have to pull the dash apart again.

 

Picked up and hauled 2 Pallets of sod earlier this week. St. Augustine Texas grass. Since its mainly clay, and freshly cut, I’m guessing 2000lbs-2500lbs per pallet.

Back in the camping game with a new trailer since the elm tree fell on our Winnebago 1790.
Drove from Palestine to Sealy TX (3 hour trip 1 way) to pick up a trailer site unseen. Well not exactly site unseen as we had looked at one locally but he was more than what we wanted to pay for an already 1 year old trailer.
Called the dealer up yesterday and put a grand deposit on it and took the rest today.
On the way back stopped off to grab a bite to eat (remind me again to never eat at a Pizza Hut) and grabbed a photo as it sat in the old Pizza Hut location.




It's a Winnebago Minnie 2401RG. 27'11" long and a lot of room when the slide is out.

Next stop for it are trailer towing mirrors. Local dealership wants around $600 for the set and I only want OEM ones so looks like that's what I'll be paying.
AS for the trailer, some of the specs
Hitch Weight 650 lbs
Dry/Unloaded Weight 5220 lbs
Gross Vehicle Weight 7000 lbs

And yes, even empty I could tell it was back there. We had to adjust the weight distribution hitch on the way home and it was not as near as sensitive to the cross winds (about 20mph) or the tractor trucks blasting by since I was in the outside lane tooling along at a sedate pace of 60mph.
Last vehicle I did any 25+ foot trailers with was a 1996 Ford F250 PowerStroke - which I recently got rid of since I hardly ever drove it. Being used to something like the F250 PS and then comparing it to a 1/2 ton you can tell the difference. I would not want any bigger trailer than what we have now.

I like those Minnie Winnies. They're not a full 8' width, correct? They're more like a 7'-7.7' wide trailer?

I'd like something similar to that when we eventually buy a bigger trailer. I would likely keep it around the 24'-26' floorplan length, with a bunkhouse in the rear.

That’s pretty much what I have - Winnebago 2455BHS with bunks in the back. Works great for the kids. Mine is 8 feet wide.

I 100% agree with @Tracy Perry, it tows fine with the Tundra, but I’m right at max payload on the Cat Scale and I wouldn’t want more trailer with this truck.

 

Hey thanks! It's only a 95 but I got a new motor for it and gave it a fresh wax so now I call it my "new" fishing boat.

 

They keep changing the names. Ours says Minnie on the side. The 1790 we had Mini Drop used in its name.
The 1790 was around 6.5' wide (actual box, wheel to wheel was around 7' and was one of those that literally was easy to forget about being back there. The one we just got is the standard 8' width. The Mini frames were C type and very light. The new one is a full rectangle frame and is much heavier than the 1790. The 1790 used a 2" ball and the Minnie requires a 2 5/16" ball certified for class 5.

Forgot all about the mileage - 18.7 going down empty with truck only (well, the hitch also). We got 8.4mpg coming back with trailer unloaded and in S4.

 

The Minnie Drop, the Micro Minnie, and the Micro Minnie 5th Wheel are 7' wide. The Minnie, the Minnie Plus, and the Minnie Plus 5th Wheel are 8' wide.

The Minnie Drop is 7' wide at the outside of the wheels. I think the cabin is like 6' or so?

I think my next one will be a Micro Minnie 5th Wheel. It would be at the upper end of the Tundra's towing capacity.

I love my Tundra. I wish Toyota would amp up the towing power some how.

I steadfastly refuse to buy a Chevy or a Dodge. Ford is a maybe, but I'm not that impressed with the F150. The engine and ride is OK (my wife got an F150 rental for almost 2 weeks while her car was in the body shop), but the interior is just not that comfortable to me. Love the seats in my Tundra, super comfy for me and the ergonomics really suit me and my wife.

And don't get me started on the gas mileage when towing. Even with my light weight Micro Minnie, keeping under 70mph. my mileage is still under 10mpg. Wish Toyota would do something to improve that as well.

 

Pull my Airstream Travel trailer with 4.88s, pulls like a train.

 

First tow with the lift. The trailer actually pulled better this way. 10.6 MPG from San Antonio to New Orleans.

 

Not that much really, but it does good for what I need it for...

We cut down, limbed, bucked and pulled 13 trees off the mountain. Split a bunch on site and took some loads back to the house. Winter is coming (I typically go through 3 cord or so)

 

I had a similar load with a hydraulic dump trailer with my 98 4runner. Lost all but 1st and 2nd gear. Good thing I've moved on to a tundra! Nice haul

Just did a 40ish mile tow with a 23ft Stingray (boat) and I got 10.6 mpg. I thought double digits were good.

Sweet set up! now get you some load helper bump stops. To keep the truck nice and level.

 

towed my camper from long island to hershey PA. must say NYC sucks balls otherwise not too terrible. let me ask how many rpms are you guys comfortable with?
i hit 4000 a few times and really didnt like it.
