New to forum, just have a question. Installed 6112's at the 1.9 setting with cb shim and loved the ride. I wanted a little more lift so i moved them up to top setting 2.5 and installed SPC uca.Now the ride is terrible. When i hit bumps on the highway it feels like i hit a speed bump.Even rattles the dash.Just wondering if maybe something was installed wrong or just the preload on the coilovers. It is a night and day difference between the 2 settings. The truck is 100% on road truck.Any suggestions would be helpful.

Install yourself or have a shop do it? Any pics?

Shouldn’t be that drastic. Pics of front shocks as of now? Did you get it realigned?

My 6112s have been at max height with shims for 3+ years 38k miles, and mine ride awesome. I'd post a picture of the coilover assembly maybe something was installed incorrectly or something was torqued before the truck was on the ground bearing full weight.

I'm following this thread. I'll be doing a similar setup. While I'm definitely going for the aggressive look (height), I don't want to sacrifice ride quality.

I really like the stance of your truck in the photo @Glennjc1978

You hit it. Too much preload. And the ride gets stiffer as the angle of the arms increases

I think your bump stops are way to big. You don’t need that much extension with the 6112s, albeit with less than 3” of lift. You only need to extend them a 1/4” or so. I bet your smacking the bump stops with every bump. Take those middle pieces off and see if it changes the ride.

Everything else looks fine, so there’s no reason the ride should change that significantly only going up another half inch. These shocks and springs are designed for the increased travel and preload so you don’t need that much extension to the bump stop. Let those shocks work.

And what does your alignment specs look like?

Alignments jacked up. Shouldn’t have negative camber. Your caster is all wrong. Toe should at least be equal on each side, albeit you have too much total toe. Whoever did this had little to no clue what they were doing.

Your sheet on a lifted tundra should look like this:

    Camber: L 0.0 - 0.2 R 0.0 - 0.2
Caster: L 2.0 - 2.3 R 2.3 - 2.7. Always want a few tenths more on the right to account for road crown.
    Toe: L 0.5 - 0.7 R 0.5 - 0.7. This can vary a tenth or so but total toe should be around 0.15.

i feel like the top setting is harsh too.
    but want the lift.
not sure what to do and i do take it off road.
wish i threw down for a better front coilover.
wondering if i should lower the setting and put a shim in?

It will ride better but dont forget to shim the bumpstop a little if you add the shim in.

Yeah, the first thing I noticed was how big the bump stop extension is. The ones Bilstein provides look like thick washers and are much thinner. But the alignment numbers look way off. I'm guessing if you swap out those big bump stop extenders for the ones Bilstein provided and get the alignment fixed, the ride should drastically improve.
