Question on installing front TRD Sway Bar

    Greetings - Dumb question:

    Does the TRD front sway bar replace the stock sway bar, or is it an addition - supplementing (and therefore keeping) the stock front sway bar?

    Yup. Replace. I did it myself and it wasn't too hard. I kept the shipping box intact and it worked perfect (I did not have the truck jacked up or on ramps) to stage the bar on top of while I was getting ready to start putting it into it's final place.

    Make 1000% sure you are 1000% sure of the bolt torque requirements.

    Also, always make final nut/bolt torque adjustments with the tires on the ground and full weight of the front end on the suspension.

    The Mama Toyota stocker is hollow. The TRD one is SOLID steel. And the difference is hugely noticeable. It will really stiffen up the front end.

    Nope... TRD one is more beefy/solid and it will not flex much vs the hollow black stock.

    When the hell are you flexing a sway bar? Your end links are more of the culprit there then the actual bar.

    Please tell me when have you seen a sway bar flex going around corners? The only reasons you guys got it was because it’s red. I’m sorry but you’re not going to feel one lick of difference going from the stock one to the sport one.

    Sway bars always flex when your truck, or any other so equipped vehicle turns. The stiffness of said sway bar determines exactly how much it will flex under any given steering maneuver.     And its functioning doesn't just apply to your vehicle's handling when you're racing around like a jackass, but also during normal everyday driving.

    Trust me I know how a sway bar works. And I’m telling you you’re not going to feel any difference from stock to the sport one. That’s like saying your truck is faster because it’s white.

    The TRD does make a difference. Had a friend that bought a 13 TSS and he put a TRD “RED”:) sway bar on his which replaced the stock one and you could tell it really did make a difference. You stayed in your seat up front when taking a turn and did not have to hold on to anything to stay put. I could tell a difference and I am not talking about 80 MPH around a hairpin curve, normal driving 35 mph or better in a normal curve. And,, I don’t consume alcoholic beverages!!!!:)

    I got my truck with no aftermarket sway bars and added both the sway bars at separate times. Let me tell you the difference is HUGE!!! I’ve spent thousands of dollars in mods on this truck and the best dollar for dollar mods were the sway bars. It feels like a muscle car in the corners and handles amazing in turns. On windy days I can keep her straight like nobody’s business.

    Anybody telling you there’s no difference is ignorant to the subject. The upgrade in steering control and body sway is amazing. And that’s when not towing. I feel when I tow the difference is even better.

    Do it. You won’t regret it.

    No drinking yet. I’m glad you guys are into it I’d rather spend money else where. The factory one does everything it needs for me. Adding the rear helped a little nothing to rave about tho

    That’s the total opposite of what I’m trying to say Dumbo lol. Replacing the stock one with one a little more stout will have hardly any effect. This is my argument. Not going from having nothing to having one.

    Mines is actually off to. :)

    Less body roll and more flat on turns. I have both front and rear and love it. Does make a better pavement ride in my opinion.

    I was able to get the dealer to throw in both front and rear TRD sway bars, installed, as part of the deal when I bought my fourth Tundra 10 days ago. The sway bars should be in shortly so I will need to take to truck in to have them installed. I know what the rear sway bar looks like, as we have one on our third Tundra, but I have never had a front one installed before. That’s why I asked.

    Does installing the new sway bar affect alignment?
