Baby got some new teeth! Took about half an hour to swap them out. The sensor cover seems much darker than the picture shows. I bring her to the dealer tomorrow for the TSS recall upgrade. IMG_6149 2.jpgIMG_1561.jpg

All I've done so far is install a new head unit since my TRD Off-Road came with the Entune Plus, which was a less capable head unit than what we had in the white TSS Off-Road before the tree killed it.
The new head unit was a fathers day present from my son and wife. It's an AVIC-W8500NEX and used the Maestro RR to maintain steering wheel controls.

    radio.jpg

Now that I have a head unit in the next step is replace the speakers. I won't be putting an amp in as I don't need to run the sound any more than what I can enjoy in the cab.

Nice! How is the audio? Improved? I really want to improve my sound and heard that a head unit is the way to go if I don’t want to go crazy.

Looks great. That shifter bezel is easy. Just a few plastic welds that hold it on. Cut them off with a knife or chisel. Then hot glue it back on. Easy peasy

Nice looking head unit. You have a sub or plan to run one? Obviously youd need an amp for that but the head unit alone with some new door speakers will sound great. I really like the hertz k170 components I got for my doors. Tech12volts has a good price on them.

First step should be head unit, then go from there. The head unit alone will improve the sound. You could always change speakers and add an amp and sub down the road. A kenwood, jvc, pioneer or alpine is the way to go IMO. And the maestro rr integrates your steering wheel controls, backup cam and obd computer info, plug and play too

Much improved over the Entune system. You have to be careful with the cheap speakers as you can blow them very easily. As for the sound - it's much crisper at any reasonable volume level that the speakers can handle.
I've always been partial to Pioneer stuff since I was in high school in the late 70's/early 80's.
Thanks... and right now no real plans as next project is door speakers. I'm already deaf enough and the wife said no tub thumping from the truck. :p
Normally they are... but you can find some that come with a head unit already.
I'd suggest getting it from somewhere like Amazon. My first one (purchased from Amazon) had an issue and I returned it and my son was over in Tyler and bought one at Best Buy. About a $50 difference in price between Amazon & Best Buy (Amazon cheaper).

Oh, you have a reg cab? Not a DC or CrewMax? You could prob still get a sunroof, you'd just likely need a smaller one. Mine slides back inside the roof, not on top of the roof. If you have a reg cab, I imagine yours might have to slide back outside the roof as there might not be enough room inside. Webasto is a great brand and have different sizes. Their site has a list of installers - give one a shout in your area...or call the dude I used (info in other thread) - he'll definitely answer your questions specific to your truck.

I have a second batch of photos in that thread - post #22 - that has a photo (7th one) outside the truck with sunroof open. Not a profile view, but a close up and it does show that the glass slides inside the roof.
