Telephone Clarity Through Stereo

I have owned Chevy's (Mostly Silverados) all my life. Last weekend I became the proud owner of a 2019 Tundra 1794 Edition. I love the look and feel of this truck but am underwhelmed by the audio of my telephone when I Blue Tooth my phone calls through the Tundra's stereo system. The clarity of the phone's audio through my stereo system is really bad, almost inaudible. Is this normal? If not what could I be doing wrong? Is there an aftermarket fix? Im thinking of just buying a portable Blue Tooth Speaker (Like a Beats Pill) so I can have good audio for my phone calls when driving.

I put a set of these in the dash and it helped considerably.

The sound system kind of sucks all around in these trucks. There are many pricier options to fix this available, but this helped with clarity for my phone calls and podcasts. That's all I really listen to.

hmm... while the stock audio systems do suck, the phone quality in my truck is just fine (i have an iphone). i have no issues hearing the caller what-so-ever. maybe try to re pair the blue tooth connection?

 

no issues at all with mine, just as good as every vehicle I have ever owned

 

Thank to all, I will go by my dealer (Hendrick Toyota in Charleston) and ask their opinion. In the unlikely event its not user error, I will look at aftermarket front speakers. Already added remote start so these should be easy.

Mine is terrible too. Speakerphone is muffled

 

Mine is also not good.

 

Any chance of swapping mics? Everyone complains about the quality on their end. Sounds like a tunnel. Worse that most speakerphones.

 

I have good clarity but the volume sums. Turned all the way up I can barely hear during a conversation. Have upgraded all audio except dash speakers. Have wiring harness's and speakers, just need wiring diagram to figure out what goes where. ( four wires into speaker). only hold up right now. ( even have plates to mount tweeters in the corners under the screens.

 

I thought my bluetooth mic and phone call quality was much better stock than it is now with my kenwood headunit and aftermarket speakers. I have my head unit set to just play the phone calls on the front speakers which has helped a little. The biggest complaint is that the mic seems to suck, people tell me that they hear themselves as an echo, and the quality is poor. I have the mic right in front of my face on the windshield. I may try to add and extension wire and put it inside the overhead console where the OEM mic is.

 

For those using android, you can try this.

-Go to settings
-About phone
-tap on build number 7 times(opens a hidden menu "developer options")
-back out of "about phone"
-developer options will now be visible. Select it.
-first option is to enable developer options. Enable it.
-scroll down until you find "disable absolute volume for Bluetooth".
-Select it.

Exit.

Your Bluetooth volume will no longer reset to the default volume every time it pairs up to another Bluetooth device.

You won't have to turn up the volume and agree to be careful with prolonged exposure... Yada yada anymore.

None of this will void any warranties and you can't permanently damage anything.

Thanks buddy I just gave that a try. We will see how the next phone call goes.
I did have to go to one extra menu when i did it.
1. about phone
2. Software information
3. Click on "build number" 7 times (its actually counts down for you as you're tapping screen)
4. Back out to menu
5. Find "developer options" on the very bottom of the menu
6. scroll down and click on "disable absolute volume"

I wonder what other cool things I can do under developer options @Twinky ?
Can I change the audio quality at all?

Being different android versions with differences options its hard to say.

I'm on Oreo and there are a couple audio options but I have no idea how they function.

Its tempting, but... Ehh, default it will stay. Lol.

Here's a few tweaks I prefer.
The three that have animations turned off. They are normally set to like "5x" or something.

Those are small time delays added to things like swiping thru the home screen to other screens. The delays are there to allow little transition effects to occur.

Or when launching an app.

Turning those three off will remove the delays and the visual effect. Instead it will just instantly open the app, and such.

It can make your phone feel much faster and responsive.

Also turning on "Android debugging".
That is a feature for how your PC can access and edit your phones directories and system files, ect, when you are plug up with an USB.

There's specialty programs you get on PC like adb that allow lots of developer type of features.

Rooted phones take advantage of those features. Oh and you can recover bricked phones and other nifty things. I should say, other ppl can do those things. Not so much me.
