Hi Everyone. I'm a new-ish member here - got my new Tundra back in December. I've really loved this forum and this thread. I had two dogs that past away about a year apart at age 13 over the last few years. While I liked the idea of having a dog, I found that it was really tough to manage giving them attention and having young kids, so I said I wouldn't get another one for a long time. Well, I bought a truck and stumbled across this thread at around the same time my wife and kids started laying into me about getting another dog. I fought them off for a few months, but then just kept coming back to this thread.

Well, ya'll helped me make up my mind - along with my very persuasive family.

On our 18th anniversary about a month ago, my wife and I went to a shelter to find a young dog that was potty trained and medium sized with little shedding. Then we stumbled across a litter of 5 little puppies that were spending their first day in the shelter and all those requirements were forgotten.

Meet Lucy. She's about 3 months old now. We were told that her mom was a white German Shepard. Hard to see anything other than yellow lab in her though. I had a lot of reservation about getting a puppy and was questioning the decision for about a week, but I'll be darn if she isn't the best little puppy ever. She's pretty calm, but still enjoys playing, and best of all, she seems to enjoy truck rides so far We took her camping last weekend and she did great.

 

What a cutie! She's going to live for a long long time with all that love she's lappin' up.

My ten year old boy Bruce is having kidney failure unfortunately. His days are numbered. For now keeping him comfortable with daily cbd oil. He’s sure a cutie!

Thanks everyone. He’s my good buddy and I love him so much. He has good days and bad. We’ll see how long he goes for. I don’t want him to suffer. Being that he is my first dog, I never thought about the ending of his life when I got into a puppy. When he had his first stroke a few months ago we thought he was done for but he came back around. He’s had three strokes up to present day. Now, it seems he is losing his mind some days. He really likes to be by himself most of the time, which seems like a sick dog thing to do. He has developed spot blindness as well. But I’ll tell ya, he wakes up everyday like a champ and it’s still apparent he’s a happy dog. He lets me know to be positive no matter what
