I searched the board and found more than a few threads. I keep getting a message to 'clean the sensor'. The issue is probably my own fault. I put on a new grille (from Sparks) and a new emblem. The new emblem is different from the original one, it's not glossy or 'domed'. I am assuming that is the problem. But, I did have the error message pop up the other day before the change. Also, the problem is intermittent. It works for a while, error message pops up, then it works again. My main question - is it the emblem or is something else going on?

PS - I did power wash the truck the other day. I may have been a little aggressive up front. The light came on the first time later that day and shut off. I replaced the grille and emblem after that.

Put on your old grill and emblem back on and take it back to the dealership...

That has certainly crossed my mind. FWIW, I just drove 10 miles and no error message at all. Yesterday it would come on/off after a few minutes and happened multiple times.

Have you had the two or three recalls remediated regarding this system??

I am not sure. I had recall work performed at my 5k service, that's it. I think it was a software update. Nothing else. It was in for 10k service ~feb. I'm approaching 15k now. Maybe another month.

One of the recalls is to seal up the unit because some of them were getting wet and malfunctioning. Sounds suspicious.

That is definitely part of the problem if the sensor is behind that emblem.

See if the sensor has a black foam tape on it. If so that recall was done, if not then there is a chance water is getting in it.

If you like that grill so much get the one for a 2018/19 TRD Sport it looks identical to that one and you can install the proper emblem that will work with the TSS.

You put your vin number in to place the sparks order. They should know it wouldn’t work.

I did that when I ordered.

I've ordered the proper emblem. I damaged the original trying to remove it from the stock grille.

FWIW I changed the setting to the more sensitive one and didn't have a single problem since the change. I pretty comfortable that it's the emblem but the consistency of the issue is strange.

Regardless, I will still change back to the original emblem.
