Since I haven't had time to truly craw all over the inside of a a new Tundra and to be honest I was so busy looking at everything else. Any place other than the center consol or glove box? My current truck has the perfect spot in a small compartment over the glove box. The spot is perfect for my XD mod 2 with sticky holster.

Well, it's concealed CARRY. I don't see the advantage of disarming and hiding your firearm somewhere in your vehicle. Get carjacked at a stoplight and thrown out of your vehicle, then what? Unless you decide to go to a legal no carry zone. For that a console vault safe would be your best bet.

I agree I carry 99% of the time but at work I can only leave my weapon in my truck. After the horrible shooting that took the life of 5 Dallas officers across the street, I noticed the handbook was edited no longer states can not enter the building with a weapon. But checked with my super and was told leave it in your truck.

I also keep a set of padded sticks, wood sticks and a knife in my truck, and I lock the doors. Am I 100% safe, no but even if on my hip and seat belt on. If a person ran up and put a gun against the glass not like I can pull my weapon the person has the drop on me. I do my best to stay alert and look for signs, it's the best I can do with my situation.

Everyone has their own preference, mine is on my person. A good storage option for when the truck isn't occupied would be the console vault like the other guys mentioned.

I was wondering the same thing with the Tundra. I had a lower locked console in my Silverado that was pretty convenient for the weapon. I'm in the same boat you are, carry until I'm at work and then leave it in the truck. I think a vault under the seat may be the best bet.

If your just looking for a spot to put it when you arent in the vehicle there are plenty of places. Console, glove box, under seat, door, etc.

If you dont like carrying on your body while driving (I dont either, prefer to just have it close by) than you can do the center console mod and mount a holster in there. Only one quick step if you find yourself in a situation where you need it. Could also holster it and attach the clip of the holster underneath your steering wheel or stick it in the door or in front of seatbelt.

Thank you, Mike. I like those options for long rides when having it inside the waistband would get uncomfortable over time.

No problem! There are a lot of factors to consider as well such as : state laws, which seat configuration you have, and size of gun.

Here in FL with a CCP you can keep it anywhere as long as its concealed. Since I have the bench seat up front which has a smaller center console I found it hard to find a good spot for my HK VP9 where it would be considered "concealed" if I ever got pulled over. Doesn't help that if you ask 10 different officers you will get 10 different answers on whats considered "concealed" in a vehicle. I'm sure the seatbelt spot or in the door would be good enough, but I rather not risk tangling with the poorly worded FL laws.

That is why I decided to get a smaller pistol that could fit in my smaller console and ended up with a Sig P238. It fits perfectly in the back section of my center console and I feel confident that the extra split second it takes me to access it won't be the difference between life or death because I'm also very aware of my surroundings. With smaller pistols like this one, the seatbelt location wouldn't be ideal because you run the risk of it slipping down under the seat.

But there are definitely plenty of options in these trucks, just have to figure out what works best for your situation and what you feel comfortable with.

Fore sure. In Maine there are no laws about carrying concealed anymore. As a former officer, in my opinion that only helps. Seeing as laws only affect the good guys anyway. My concern is more that I have a 17 month old son and I prefer it be hidden all the time. Out of sight, out of mind. I carry a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield .40. Nice and concealable as far as him knowing when it's on me. I have used the door pocket before because once he's in his seat he doesn't see me transition it from carry to the truck when I get in. If only I still had the faith in humanity that a 17 month old does...

Thank you Mike love the under wheel holster, pretty sure in TX there's still a huge debate on the legality of that set up. We haven been an open carry state very long so still a lot of kinks to work out.

On a side note the few times I did OC 99% of people are so wrapped up in their phones they didn't notice my gun. Only reason I had it on my hip was my pockets were bulging and was in and out of my truck a lot. I had about 5k in cash on me to buy my daughter a first truck.

I cc at 4:00. Just last week i noticed the back of my seat where my gun sticks out of my back is deformed and it looks like the fabric is about to rip open and this truck is only a year old with only 10k miles. Another half year like that and i have a gashing hole in the back of my seat. So i ordered the NRA cupholster and it is awesome and the gun is right at your fingertips and more comfortable when driving.
I have the console vault too.
