The ravenol 75w has a very weak additive package compared the Toyota 75W LF. If you’re not going to use the Toyota fluid, something like Mobil Delvac 75w90 would be best IMO for T/C and Diffs. The fact that Toyota/Borg Warner won’t specify if it’s a gl4 or 5 fluid bothers me enough to keep using the expensive Toyota LF fluid in the transfer case. I’m sure the ravenol 75w works but I wouldn’t leave in for long intervals...

Ravenol is the Euro spec for Toyota 75w-85, used in Hilux and Prado's. In reality if your not using 4 wheel drive that often it should be ok either way.

Interesting, but that is diff fluid. We’re talking about the mono grade 75wLF. It comes straight from Japan as well as there 75w85 LT & LX fluids. I’m surprised Toyota would do that for UK Hilux trucks...

Synchromax Link? So you’re saying all the additives and everything match up and it’s straight 75W?

It doesn’t say it’s 75W anywhere on there. That’s what the transfer case requires for 2014 and up tundras. It has changed if you’re going off the previous specs. It used to be able to except the same gear as the differentials. But no longer.

It says it’s toyota lf compatible... I never said it was a 75w, I ran the same fluid in my 2016 Tacoma with the same style transfer case for 25k miles with no issues, so have a lot of others. Our transfer cases aren’t anything special, the viscosity is for fuel mileage, I was a technician for both Honda and Toyota, if you don’t use Toyota’s LF oil fortified with unicorn tears, your transfer case won’t blow up. I promise.

    :rofl:Unicorn tears!

I've been running ravenol 75w had problems with RP 75w-90. With The truck pulling to one side when in 4 x 4 as well as disengaging difficulties. Switched it to you for less expensive Ravenol and haven’t had any issues.

It’s funny you mention the pull, because mine currently does that with the factory fluid..hmmmm I’ve heard people have had good luck with it, but it does have a very different additive package than the LF

Hmm. I’ve read the Blackstone analysis/comparison with someone using the Toyota LF and RP 75W-90. I’m not accustomed with reading those type of printouts. Many of the numbers look really close. I guess I’m not smart enough to understand all those numbers LOL.

So as a tech yourself, you’re saying royal purple synchromax is perfect?
